So convenient! Perfect location! Quick check in and staff super helpful! Only issue was the bad lighting in our restroom. Beautiful hotel and nicely updated. Cozy and comfortable.

Lackluster Service

Guest services appears to be low priority. Front desk isn't helpful. Called to check on the air con, front desk said someone will be right up. No one showed up after waiting for 20 minutes I called again. Same woman answered abd said that the hotel was on a "warm" mode. I asked what that meant. She answered that it wad 45 degrees outside. I asked when would it would start up again, she said when the temperature hits 70. I told her that we needed air circulation in here. She said that someone would be bringing a fan up. No one showed up. About an hour or two later the hair con went on. There is a computer without any instructions, there isn't any room/hotel manual. We found out that there was a little information on the television. No mention about the restaurant down in the lobby, no room service, only one elevator worked in the am as we tried to check out, curt bellhop until he got his tip. I wouldn't return. There are many hotels to choose from.

Great location

Pros: Smallish rooms but so well decorated and furnished that we didn't notice that.
Location: Beach; North Michigan Avenue shopping; restaurants.
Stay right across from the Drake Hotel for much less than the Drake. Walking distance to beach and North Michigan Avenue shopping.

Quiet Hotel in a Great Location

Pros: The renovated bathrooms; although small makes a brilliant use of space.
Cons: Carpets, wallpaper and new (or at minimum steam clean) all chairs in the guest rooms and have operational TVs. Simple, yet cost effective, changes.
Location: Shopping, restaurants, biking and beaches.
Although the hotel is in a great location (near shops, parks and the beach), it's very difficult to overlook the condition of the hotel. From the torn, dated and dirty chairs in the bar/lounge area to the condition of the carpets and wallpaper; from the lobby area up the elevators and into the guest rooms. It was a hit or miss with the functionality of the A/C system, not to mention the TV. It's so unfortunte because the staff is amazingly courteous and it's location is great. I kept looking to find a compelling reason to come back. Like so many other hotel chain management teams, the manager at this hotel requests input upon departure from its guests, but that's about as far as it goes, which is not surprising. I am an avid traveler for both work and leisure, so hotel properties are something I know very well; not to mention being a corporate professional with a deep understanding of the hospitality management industry.

close to Magnificent Mile

Pros: location
Cons: they could offer free coffee in the lobby. They had a coffee bar there but the man was so slow and the next day I went around the corner to Starbucks
check in was easy, hotel staff friendly, love the lobby and the bar. Had one bad experience, came back in the afternoon and the room was not cleaned. So called the desk and they sent up someone, who was not our regular cleaner, and she was not happy. gave us a nasty look and she had a attitude. I was sorry to see that, have stayed here before and really liked it. The coffee bar barista was so slow and the lines were long at times. had to walk to Starbucks and was back before some people were served,

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Knickerbocker! We arrived on a red eye, and Edward at the front desk was able to get us into a room 6 hours before check in - he was a life saver! Staff was very kind and accommodating. We will certainly be back!

Pros: Great location and had a wonderful time.
Location: Near to beach, good restaurants, downtown, subway, shopping.
