great location, tiny room

Posted Jun 8, 2017
Pros: Character/feel of the building, free parking & breakfast
Cons: more TV stations (or at least more than 10). 'Free Wifi' but I couldn't find the network on my phone to connect to. Maybe a 3rd floor issue?
Location: distance from the train was only a block away, lots of stores, bars/restaurants. Didn't stay in the neighborhood, was in the city everyday
Located a block from the L, it was a terrific place to stay while enjoying our City Pass downtown. Window stickers given daily to park on the street, which we found a spot about 4 blocks away (I had just a duffel bag so carrying luggage wasn't a problem. David (staff) offered to keep our luggage if we had brought more). Narrow stairway allowed 1 person at a time. By the time we reached the 3rd floor it was clear the AC only reaches the 2nd level. Thankfully weather wasn't too hot outside, so it wasn't unbearable, just slightly stuffy. Our room had a bathroom, but you can choose to stay in a larger room & use the hallway bathroom. WARNING: toilet is situated between the outside wall & the bathtub/shower partition, about the same space as sitting in an office chair. If you're a weighty person you will NOT fit on the toilet. The bed is against the wall, allowing access from one side as well as at the foot. It was kinda hard, but I have an exceptionally soft bed I'm used to. We had to open the bathroom windows & keep the ceiling fan on to stay cool. No AC in the room. David was very helpful & kind, continental breakfast was tasty with fresh fruit salad (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries), quiche, baked blueberry 'coffee cake', boiled eggs, & the usual OJ, coffee, milk & little boxed cereals. Trader Todd $10 discount was nice, but their food was incredibly salty, at least the chicken sandwich I ordered was. Nice place to visit, tho'. All in all, a great place w/character.

A perfect nostalgic Chicago visit!

Posted Jun 6, 2017
The Mgr David on duty was great and was there for anything you need. Excellent home made baked goods for breakfast every day of our 4 night stay. Don't miss the Room 13 experience! So unique and a fabulous trip back in time experience of old Chicago! Cannot wait to come back! David was excellent at everything! Loved the location, the people, the stores and restaurants nearby and a short and fun walk to Wrigley. A quick L ride to anywhere else in Chicago you may visit!

Close to Wrigley and Public Transportation

Great little Bed & Breakfast style place to stay in the Lakeview neighborhood. 10 minute walk to Wrigley Field and 2 minutes to Belmont train station. Plenty of places to grab a beer and something to eat nearby. Very friendly staff.

I enjoyed my stay. David the Inn Keeper was friendly and helpful. Luke the bartender was awesome.

Neglected and depressing

Posted Apr 1, 2017
This hotel is rundown, and the staff is not helpful. No hot water in the shower (in March, in Chicago!,) fixtures coming out of the wall when touched, and non-functioning wifi in some of the rooms. Whenever I brought a problem up to the "Innkeeper," David, he would say "oh yeah, that happens sometimes." (?!?!) When I book a hotel that says it has wifi, I expect the wifi to work in my room. Intact fixtures and hot water are not too much to ask. And a staff that actually cares about the problems with the hotel would be nice. I would not stay here again. It's also dark, depressing, and claustrophobic, and there is no elevator.
