Right by the action!Posted Sep 27, 2015
Pros: I really liked the staff! They were very helpful in giving us what we wanted! Bed was comfortable!
Cons: Nothing that I can think of
Location: St. Charles was a fun little town to visit, although the 4 lane hwy took away from the vintage feel. Great restaurants and fun walk along the river.
Our hotel experience was great! The staff was extremely helpful, especially on checking in, and also after I forgot my shoes and didn't realize till I got home! We had a lot of fun walking along the St. Charles' Fox River and enjoyed seeing the sights. Abbey's restaurant served a delicious homemade breakfast! Francesca's by the River served fabulous food!! We also found Geneva to be a very fun and interesting town!

DisappointedPosted Sep 21, 2015
Staff was nice. However, hotel smells musty. My non-smoking room smelled like it had been smoked in and the hallway reeked of stale cigarettes! Asked to get a different room, and staff was very accommodating. However, the new room was just as musty. Mirror in the bathroom had toothpaste splatters on it from the previous guest! Didn't get $79.00 worth from this place! Will not stay there again. Also, on race morning when all runners needed to check out to get to our race, the desk clerk put up a sign "will return at 6:00"! Was gone for 30 minutes! People just left their room keys on desk. We didn't get receipts since nobody was there to give one. Other guests on 2nd floor all complained of no hot water at all. Don't waste your money here.

The hotel is old and in need of upgrades. The mattresses were very uncomfortable. The toilet too small for an aging population. The breakfast was satisfactory and the staff was friendly. Just better hotels in the area.

Quality needs updatingPosted Aug 29, 2015
Pros: The desk clerks were friendly, and breakfast was good
Cons: It needs a total face lift
Location: Location was great. Close to shopping at the deserted mall. There was a movie theater near by and old downtown was just a 5 minute drive.
The hotel was large and easy to get to. It was apparent that it was an older hotel, as the rooms were very large and roomy. It was fairly clean but was in need of updating. The beds were ok, and the room was large. The hall ways were hot as the air conditioners did not keep up. The lock on the exterior door in our section did not work so anyone from the outside could enter the hotel at any time. The breakfast were ample. Coffee good. It was comfortable, but could use some work. My room window was cracked. The air conditioners were very loud and had to run nearly all the time to keep the rooms cool. I would stay there again because the price was good an the rooms were clean.

When I checked in I was told that the hotel was completely booked and there was no room for me, even though I paid in full in advance. Was told to come back in hour and see what they could do. I ended up going back 15 minutes later and another woman found my reservation immediately. Even though everything worked out, it is very frustrating when told there was no room.

Good economical choicePosted Jun 29, 2015 on Hotels
Clean, comfortable, decent place to stay in this area with affordable pricing. Quiet; if you ask for a quiet room, they'll give one to you on the second floor. A walk across Main Street to the yummy Colonial Cafe for meals and/ or ice cream is highly recommended.
