Super location and nice quiet hotel. Missing some amenities, perhaps due to pandemic issues. No valet parking, no fridge or hair dryer in the room . Staff was very accommodating and hope they survive the pandemic. Would consider staying again.

No one to help with the luggage, The lady at The front desk was nice but I asked for a room with refrigerator,she said couldn't give me one with two beds . The room was awful !! Even they had some renovations I got very bad room with lots of damages ! the beds seems clean )the only good thing about it No place to hang the towels The carpet was so dirty The light was not bright enough Really hated when first entered,but my dad said we only needed it for the night let's sleep and rest !! Which was hard because of the bang sounds most of the time !!! Over all was bad experience for us I've been to soooo many hotels around the world ,and this is the second worst room we been in!!!

Nice enough but hoped for better
Room lighting options were poor. Even with every light on the room was still dark. Bedside lighting was a lightbulb screwed into wall with no way to turn on/off without getting out of the bed. Room was clean though rather spartan. TV options way too complicated to figure out without dedicated studying - never did figure out how to get plain network TV so we could figure out what was going on (weather-wise) in the area. Good location for where we needed to be, quiet area but close to Water Tower etc. Found reasonable parking options through SpotHero.

Adequate stay
The hotel was very clean. The bed was comfortable. I was surprised there was no refrigerator in the room or coffee maker. I thought these were standard, but apparently not. The sink in the bathroom was VERY small, low and looked like it was hanging from the wall (slanted downward). The front desk was helpful when I had a question about a place to go for breakfast and how to get transportation.

Great location, walking distance to shops and restaurants. The bathroom was large with a make up counter and mirror. The beds were very comfortable.

We rented a city view King room to be given a view of a building. Once we went in we also noticed the walls had paint coming off the walls, the wooden floors sounded once you walked in the room, there was a soda cap under the bed, and the sheets had a hole in them. My partner and I tried to make the best out of it as we were celebrating our 3 year anniversary, but were still very disappointed since we had high expectations for this hotel based on the reviews.

Difficulties from the Start
Our stay started out very bad. The original room was very small, but I was moved to a larger room in about 3 hours of my arrival. There was no bell man on staff, and how to deal with my own baggage. Also, our TV, which was only streaming services, was not working for the first day due to lack of internet. Fortunately, I do subscribe to streaming services, but couldn't get any local network stations. Very upsetting. On the 2nd day of our stay, the toilet kept clogging up and had to have the toilet plunged several times. Finally on day 3 they moved us to another room and did send a houseman to move our things. This was all very upsetting as my sister was recovering from surgery, the reason for my stay. I will say though that the Manager on Duty, Ann, did respond well to all of our concerns, which would be the only reason I would return to this hotel.

Will not stay there again. The staff was polite but unresponsive to my issues. There was a constant tapping noise, but worse was the sewer smell coming from the bathroom/toilet. My two nights were horrible with the noise nonstop during the night and stench that filled the room.

Overall our stay at the Gale Hotel was good. Just a little more transparency with what staying at the hotel entails. There's no housekeeping everyday, housekeeping is offered every 3 days. If you do ask for anything they do accommodate you. Also, to watch TV in the room they only offer Roku and while they have a guest account function that you could find some options, I imagine, this is the trend travelling is going to in the future. Again, our stay at the Gale overall was good. Just a heads up as to what the guests should expect would be appreciated. One more thing, parking at the garage could be a headache, maybe try the parking garage across the street, that had attendants at the entrance, i imagine it would be easier with them telling you if it's full or not.

The property is located in a great area next to all the major shops, but after seeing our room it was obvious this was the only good thing. The room was dirty with finger prints and cup stains everywhere. There was a dirty microwave, no refrigerator or coffee maker. The walls have multiple scratches and pieces of drywall missing. The only things clean was the over bleached bedding. Oh and the staff was extremely rude. The parking attendant made rude remarks and was especially sarcastic. I will not be staying here again. The lower price is not worth it!

it is nice stay, with friendly staff
it is a good location, and could have much charm... the room however was nothing like posted photos. there are might be some room has been remodeled and some not. even though i booked a suite (showing beautiful photo), hoping for an 'boutique' hotel experience, it looked tiered and worn out. personal were super friendly and accommodating. Lobby area has a charming windows and set up with a cozy coffee shop.

Gale hotel
Toilet needs fixing and they forgot to put the threshold going from bathroom to bedroom so I kept getting pricked. Looked like they were in the throws of decorating and we interupted them! We were told we'd have a view but not really. We upgraded to a suite so place was spacious. Bed was very comfy. Service was great,tho, especially barrista at coffee shop! Location was great!

The lighting in the room was terrible (except in the bathroom it was good). It was impossible to read after dark, the rooms seemed designed for coolness and not really for comfort. The TV did not work unless you logged into a streaming service on your personal account. No refrigerator (it looked like it was removed. Very noisy, including hearing people on the street below our 8th floor room. Also the room smelled like weed even though there was a sign in the room saying the entire hotel was non-smoking. Parking was a hassle and you needed to request a change of towels (totally fine, however, it wasn't communicated to us when we arrived or through any messages in the room. Way over priced considering the state of the room. Please new beside lamps!

The staff was courteous. They were able to accommodate an early check in. The room was clean and modern. The hallways and elevators were clean. It was a great mini getaway in the city for 1 day. I’d definitely go back.

Don’t listen to all those negative reviews. This place is wonderful ! I love the location, the room was clean and very appealing. The staff were very helpful in every way and the coffee shop makes some wonderful lattes. *I got iced white mocha and lavender lattes with oatmilk every morning, soo good. This place is wonderful, especially if you’re looking for an authentic Chicago feel.

Great location but no services with staying there. You have to pay for parking and it is not near the location.

Staff was friendly and helpful, my room was comfortable, spacious and clean, and the area was minutes away from the Navy Pier, top restaurants and a multitude of awesome attractions! My favorite thing about the location was being able to wake up and hit the trail/beach during sunrise! Check in and check out was hassle free!
