Nice stay.Posted Nov 9, 2015
Pros: Good housekeeping staff, nice person to check us in.
Cons: Maybe a few dollars less for breakfast
Location: Convienent to everything..
My wife and I had stayed at the Drake a few years back and really enjoyed it, so we booked it again. Love the location, and loved the room even more. 8th floor with a nice view of the lake. Even though it's a bit of a walk to the Chicago CTA stop don't let that bother you. The housekeeping staff were incredibly nice and quickly took care of the few things we asked for. I'll always book there in the future, and hope The Drake is there for many years to come.

Once grand hotel.Posted Nov 8, 2015
Our check-in was Rocky. When we checked in, we were given keys to our room that wouldn't work so we had to return to the front desk for a second set that didn't work. We had to stand in the hallway for hotel security to come and let us in. Once we were finally settled in our room we waited and waited to have our bags delivered only to find that we had missed bag delivery because they had called while we were waiting for security in the hallway. The room was nice but room service didn't show up on our second day. The best part of our stay at The Drake were the exceptional concierge and bellhop service. It's a nice hotel but has definitely seen better days.

Pros: Exercise room was good. Cape Cod Room is very good. Room with lake view is very pretty.
Cons: Overpriced. The service was just okay. The morning breakfast is just fair. The cost of parking and movie rentals is ridiculous. Beds are soft.
Location: The location is A+
They overbooked and placed me in a room which was a downgrade from what I had paid for. It took two days to rectify. Then I had to remind them to reduce my bill when I checked out. Morning brunch is fair. Cape Cod Room is good but expensive.

Nice hotel cold roomPosted Oct 16, 2015
We booked our hotel room weeks ago yet we ended up in a room on the second floor which didn't have a view other than the windows of the other rooms. Our room was very cold; apparently the heater was broken. We were told that someone would take a look and they could lend us an electric heater. We don't know whether anyone took a look at the heater but the room was still freezing that night. And there was no electric heater, either. Fortunately, we were able to get an electric heater the next day.

Classic place to stay. Heart of Chicago CharmPosted Oct 13, 2015
Beautiful hotel. Elegant. Great customer service. One complaint. There was a large orange stain on the white down comforter. It was obvious that it was clean but nonetheless the stain was present. A new comforter should have been placed on the bed. Slow drain in the shower.

Great anniversary settingPosted Oct 12, 2015
I wanted something for my wife and I's fifth anniversary that was romantic and nostalgic. The Drake was the perfect choice. Hotel was magnificent, room wonderful, and staff courteous. We go back again without hesitation.

Not as good as before.Posted Oct 6, 2015
Pros: Location, character, ambience
Cons: Service, efficiency, communication
I have stayed at this hotel twice before, and booked it again based on previous experience. I like the location, close to the shore front, and love the bar. We did have afternoon tea this time at the Palm Court...expensive but a nice experience. Sadly, I did not find the service as good as in previous visits. We booked a bed and breakfast deal where the front desk staff normally give you coupons for breakfast the day you check in. I didn't receive them and had to call the front desk the next morning. I went down there, and they gave me that days vouchers, telling me the rest would be put under my door - they weren't. The next morning I had to make another call and was told they were on the way to my room. 30 mins later I went to front desk again...they'd run out of vouchers, there was a mix up etc, etc. No apology for my inconvenience and a very surly faced receptionist just looked at me when I suggested they let people know what was going on instead of just doing nothing. The wait staff at breakfast were pleasant but the buffet food was cold and we waited several minutes to get coffee and juice in two of the four days. It all just seemed muddled and inefficient. I visit Chicago a few times a year, and love the character of the Drake but think I'll probably shop around prior to booking my next stay there.
