Different feel, but sufficient...

The hotel staff was super friendly and very accommodating to our needs. We showed up around 10:00 after taking a red eye from the West Coast and were hoping to get a room for a quick nap, as many people said they were able to check in early. Unfortunately, the hotel was sold out but they did call us at Noon, as they said they would, when a room opened up so that we could come back from lunch and grab a little shut eye. The lobby was under construction when we were there, so that was kind of awkward checking in at what appeared to be a little conference room.
They don't have any ice machines, which is weird, but they will bring you a super huge thing of ice at your request. It's just a little frustrating that you can't get it right away when you want from your floor and then you feel obligated to tip.
The hotel is clean and close to quite a bit, although it is a few blocks from the Red Line. Location is super! Overall, it's a nice hotel just lacking a bit. Oh, there are only two elevators and they are TINY! Never seemed to have an issue catching an elevator, but with your luggage there could be an issue.

Thank you for taking the time to offer some feedback regarding your most recent stay at The James Chicago. I am happy to hear that we were able to get you checked in a little bit early so that you could rest up for the remainder of your trip. We do not keep ice machines on the floors due to the noise level and there is never any obligation to tip. We are finishing up with our renovation this week! So during your next visit you can be greeted by our newly remodeled lobby.
