Located near the beach, The Whitehall Hotel is in Chicago's Near North Side neighborhood, an area with good shopping. Water Tower Place and Michigan Avenue are worth checking out if shopping is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's popular attractions can visit Navy Pier and Lincoln Park Zoo. John G. Shedd Aquarium and Skydeck Ledge are not to be missed. Our guests love the hotel's convenience to public transportation: Chicago Station (Red Line) is 6 minutes by foot and Clark-Division Station is 11 minutes.
The Whitehall hotel is a great option if you are looking to stay in Gold Coast. It is true what they say, it is a true boutique hotel. The lobby is really small. The front desk ladies were great! A lot of personality and extremely kind. But the front desk was a little dusty. Just beware, the building itself is old, built in 1929 I believe. The elevator is super small. My husband and I with our luggage barely fit. The room was a lot bigger than I thought it would be for a downtown hotel. Our room was of water tower place and the Hancock building. The bed was beautifully made. The beds are comfy. The bathrooms are small. The cold dial on the sink in our room Didn’t move that much. But we made it work. The shower head was really low, not ideal for a tall person. The phone in our room was completely disconnected. The hotel offers complementary ice service, as the building is so old they don’t have ice machines on every floor. The man who delivered the ice was nice. But seemed really rushed, he mentioned that it was a busy day. We planned to sleep in and the black out curtains were awesome! We didn’t know it was 8a. We ordered room service breakfast. All we had to do was place a card on the door and they would pick it up. We received our breakfast between the time slots we ask for. The breakfast was awesome. I got the Whitehall breakfast and my husband got the French Toast. It was delicious. They forgot our bacon, but the room service man brought some up to us right a
