Great!

Loved my stay here, I spent 4 nights with my fiancee for our 1 year anniversary, room was perfect. Close to pretty much everything and there is some great places to eat around too. Staff were all very friendly and attentive and willing to help with whatever/whenever.

Great hotel great location.

Posted Feb 4, 2016
Pros: Location, friendly helpful staff at all times.
Cons: The bathroom doors! Great modern design, poor for privacy!
Location: Within walking distance of the magnificent mile and most tourist attractions. Try the Lavazza Coffee shop on E Ohio St fr Breakfast! My favourite.
Upon arriving at the hotel at midday, we were checked into a room straight away. This was great and I didn't expect to be in so fast due to check in being at 2pm. It allowed me and my partner to freshen up and get settled before heading out to explore the city. The location of the hotel was great, we had a room overlooking Lake Michigan which was great to wake up and see. It was also within walking distance to the majority of places we wanted to go. However when I say walking distance, I mean within 1.5-2 miles. It was a great way to see the city trying out the different blocks to see new breakfast/lunch hangouts. The room was great, comfiest bed I have stayed in at a hotel, great size TV with sufficient channels, the whole hotel had a modern clean feel to it. Friendly staff who advised me correctly on trains and how to get around, advice on rush hour traffic etc. Very knowledgeable. I wish my trip had of been longer, I would have definitely stayed at W Lakeshore for longer.

Management lacks customer service skills!

Posted Jan 25, 2016
Pros: Location was great, door man and bartenders were friendly, cleaning staff attentive.
Cons: Management needs more training on Customer Service
Location: Right off Navy Pier and 2 blocks from Michigan Ave. Central to everything downtown.
Overall, stay was good. However, had a problem getting locked out of our room on our last night (well morning, since we were out in the "City that doesn't sleep") and the staff was terrible when resolving the situation. No one apologized for the inconvenience, the manager was too busy yelling at us to "be calm" in "HIS lobby"... UM! Its 6:30 in the morning, my key doesn't work! and NONE of you can say how sorry you are for the inconvenience? An hour and a half later we were finally let into our room. Checked out 2 hours later only to find that they charged us a full 24 hours of parking when we were only parked for 3.5 hours! Again, management did nothing to fix this and I am still dealing with it after a week.

Great Location and View, but...

Posted Jan 20, 2016
...was underwhelmed. Had high hopes for this hotel, but wasn't overly impressed and could almost certainly get a comparable room in the same general area for less. Only thing this hotel has that others maybe don't is an amazing view of the lake, assuming you have a lake facing room. Had a strange issue where our room would have no cold water, so the water was so scorching hot we couldn't shower or wash our hands. Not sure if this was an isolated incident, but have seen similar reviews. Bathroom door is a hard door sliding type, so not much privacy especially given the small size of the room. Tried and tried, but we could not get fridge open. Seemed as if the decorative door was screwed shut. Room service was not good, and ridiculously overpriced. I understand you'll always pay a bit more and I am fine doing so, especially in a town like Chicago, but this was ridiculous. $70 plus tip for a can of Coke, a salad plate worth of Mac N cheese (literally about one measuring cup of cooked pasta) a grocery store size cheese pizza and chocolate peanut butter dessert. Honestly, the best part was the can of Coke. Thankfully this was comped due to the water issue. The hotel was very clean, and like I said had a great location and views. Interior staff was all very friendly and helpful. Valet/parking staff did their cold, but wasn't overly friendly. Could have been the extreme cold. Not a huge deal either way.

AWESOME STAFF

Posted Jan 15, 2016
Pros: The staff and location
Cons: Nothing!
Location: Navy Pier, Children's Museum, Easy access to cabs
From check in to check out, the staff was amazing! We ate most meals there and the food was excellent. Also, the pool was a hit with my 5 year old.

We did get a nice room but had strong smoke scent.

Posted Jan 8, 2016
There was a shooting right outside our window. It was a little troubling as I really thought we were in a safe area. The hotel was also under construction a little but otherwise it was fine.
