Beautiful gardens in the Jungle

Posted May 20, 2017
Pros: the gardens
Cons: The staff could be friendlier at the front desk and in the restaurant and delivering bags to my room.
Location: the location is paradise …although ...had i known each structure in chichinitza is now roped off, i would have skipped it and went to coba.
Beautiful gardens in the Jungle , the spa's cocoa massage incredible ..I didn't take it personal when the staff in the restaurant and at reception seemed stand-offish . I didn't sense this anywhere else in the Yucatan …perhaps it's the colonial history of the property that prompted me to suspect perhaps the staff is under-paid ….I dont know . I tipped the baggage person 4 US $ but he laughed in my face . I would still recommend the place .

Staying by the ruins

Posted Jan 26, 2017 on Hotels
The grounds of the resort were beautiful. The food at the restaurant was excellent, but a touch pricey. Having laundry done was very expensive. Access to the ruins was so convenient.

Perfect stay ---- Except the A/C system ruined it

Posted May 3, 2016 on Hotels
The check-in went very smoothly. We were also invited to join a nature walk where they tour the hotel grounds. I must say this was a fascinating tour. They also took our payment ahead of time so we didn't have to go get tickets for Chichen Itza. We were also allowed private entry from the back straight into the ruins so we didn't have to wait in line or deal with the hassle of waking up for tickets. The hotel staff was wonderful. Very informative and helpful. We also dined in the hotel for dinner. We had a dinner for 2 that was fairly expensive ($140 USD) They had an onsite mariachi band that sang us a few songs while we dined on the open patio. There was only one HUGE problem with our stay. We turned on the A/C system while we went to dinner hoping to cool the room down... But it didn't get any colder. So ended up going to bed fairly early that evening and both woke up EXTREMELY hot and sweaty around 11 pm. The air conditioner was set to 16 Celsius but the room was extremely hot and humid. My husband had to wake up 3 times during the night and take a cold shower and barley got any sleep. The next morning I told the management and they said they would look into it. I wish we would have asked for another room but it was at 11 pm and we were exhausted.

Gem in the Jungle

Posted Apr 28, 2016
Pros: They still do ledger bookkeeping by hand. No wifi, phones in rooms and no TV's. Beautiful grounds, pool and cottages.
Cons: More english speaking staff.
Location: Located on the perimeter of the Chichen Itsa pyramids. Hour and a half to Merida which is a sweet colonial town full of history and great restaurants.
A step back in time. A cultural experience in a very spiritual place. Third time here and it never disappoints.

The room was comfortable, and the food was reliably good. Our family enjoyed the pool.

Beautiful location, rip off restaurant

Posted Mar 1, 2016 on Hotels
The hacienda met most of our needs. The room was incredibly comfortable, the gardens just stunning and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was quiet and peaceful and a good location to see Chichen Itza. Advise, rent a car, go to Valladolid, Piste, Merida and see a bit of a local town and try some local food. What could be improved in the hotel: Breakfast not included and it was extremely overpriced as are all meals. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room either which was a real shame. Staff were nice but didn't go the extra mile. The location perfect, the room extremely comfortable and the pool incredible. If the food wasn't such a rip off and some food included I would highly recommend, instead I recommend.

High on Hacienda Chichen!

Wonderful! We were there for a family vacation to see the Mayan ruins. It had great access! They also set up a tour with a local Mayan who took us to sites still hidden in the jungle and not usually visited by tourist. My grandchildren loved it. This is a peaceful place with great food and guitar music at dinner. We would all highly recommend this place!!
