Truly Charming, Unbelievable Value for Money
The reviews about this place are right! I can't believe how little I payed to stay in this lovely vaulted room in the beautiful Byzantine hill village of Avgonomia. The setting couldn't be better. A few minutes drive to the abandoned village of Anavantos in one direction, a few more to the World Heritage Site of Nea Moni in another, and the beach in still another. The village itself has a few tasty tavernas and lovely sunset views over the sea. It may get touristy at times, perhaps, but in the 1st week of Oct it was peaceful and serene. The owners are warm and inviting, they let me check in very early with no charge, and there was parking in the village square. The room is clean, comfortable, and filled with character. The bathroom was fully modern, clean, new-seeming with a large tub and instant warm water. There was a little fridge, a tiny cooker, and plates, pots, cutlery, etc. Theres a small balcony out the front with chairs, tables, and an olive tree. No view other than traditional houses, but that's what I'm here for. I will certainly stay here again if I am on Chios, this time with my family (I was here alone this trip). Again, so much value for little money. Lovely!

Old mountain village with great views
Great location for combining a beach, walking and sightseeing holiday in a very quiet part of Chios. The owner was incredible helpful and friendly and we had a great time all in all. However the actual room was pretty basic for the price and we had to wait till 7.30pm to check in as no one was there. His breakfast was fine with some nice touches.

Giorgo - the owner! Charming, as his hotel! We got a higher-priced room, with splendid view, excellent service and a week on top of the hills we should never forget. Warm, genuine and relaxing atmosphere, especially for couples. Having a car, or moto advised. Far better than crowdy, hot and noisy eastern part of Chios. Time stops at the gates of Avgonima! Thank you, Giorgo!

We are so sorry not satisfying you. You had in our breakfast bufet olives, home made marmamalades, fresh bread, cereal,fresh orange juic, fruit salad, yogurt, butter, boiled and fried eggs, high quality local cheeses. etc, is this a bad breakfast..? The Greek breakfast is this..! Turkish food is not provided in the greek hotels..! You did not complained about the cleannes of you toilet or breakfast, closing windows in the toilet and kitchen is producing odours not only in our cottages, in all houses..! It is happening usually that Turkish visitors are making last minute reservations like you when the city hotels are fully booked and original villages like Avgonima does not fit to them. All this is translated in complains about the hotel. Anyway we thank you for stayting with us..!

Village médiéval de charme loin du monde
Village de charme à 500 m d'altitude très tranquille mais avec rien à 20 km à la ronde ( il est prudent de faire le plein d'essence au départ de Chios ). Les plages les plus proches sont à 8 km, les plus belles à 16 km vers le nord; Les routes sont belles mais ça monte et ça tourne ! Choisissez une chambre orientée au sud car le vent souffle souvent et parfois fort. Et dans ce cas pas de parasol possible .....et le soleil tape fort. Seulement 2 tavernes dans le village . ( Chez Asteri vue sur la côte et couchers de soleil inoubliables .) Et puis il y a les guêpes pénibles mais on fait avec.......

The owner Giorgos was very kind and helpful. He upgraded our room for free. Room was very nice decorated and clean w a fully equipped kitchen inside. Everything was perfect, 100% recommended.

Wiederaufgebautes Dorf mit schönen Unterkünften und nicht überlaufener Plaza. Zwei urige Gaststätten mit Dorf - oder Meeresblick. Professionelle und über das übliche Maß hinausgehende Betreuung durch den Vermieter. Unterhalb des kleinen Dorfes - 8 km ? - im Mai ruhiger Strand mit mehreren Tavernen. Eigenes Fahrzeug erforderlich.

Hidden Gem in Chios
Chios un en guzel koyunde sejirden uzakta daglarin arasinda tas evde aksam yildizlari sayarak tatil yapmak istiyorsaniz burasi. Yorgo cok iyi bir ev sahibi, otel bos olursa sizi bir ust odaya upgrade ediyor hem de bedavaya. Kesinlikle tavsiye ederim, sadece buraya erisim icin araba kiralamaniz sart, cunku toplu tasima yok, ama pisman olmayacaksiniz.
