Snowy times!Posted Dec 11, 2017 on Hotels
Simultaneously the best and worst stay in a hotel ever! We got snowed in & couldn’t leave, the poor hotel staff ended up working 24 hours to try and look after us, as the relief staff could not get in, no restaurant, no room service etc, but the staff made a buffet breakfast lunch & dinner, and did absolutely the best they could do under the circumstances. Well done to our fellow stranded customers, as we all pulled together to make the best of the situation, helping to free cars from the snow, which eventually got us on our way!

We had a wonderful time at Your hotel. One thing there was a party and the music went on till one in the morning and then the other guest was very noisy. However it did ruin our stay.

Pretty good, take your walking shoesPosted Nov 8, 2017 on Hotels
I was put in the Manor House, which is very impressive when you go in, but the bedroom was tiny, annoying when there was clearly hardly anyone staying. Room-wide, apart from only enough space to squeeze round the bed, it was clean, nice decor, comfy bed and the shower was great. There were little annoying things like all doors sticking, no towel hooks but also some nice touches. The restaurant looks very good. The walk to it was not promising as it was very long, passing a very sad little bar and lots of empty rooms with chairs stacked up. I had rack of lamb for dinner, the food looked incredible but turned out to be not very fresh and the veg was undercooked. The service is great. There is a very decently sized pool, which is a 5minute walk from the hotel building, with gym and sauna, I was really pleased with this as I chose the hotel mainly for its having a swimming pool. Overall the hotel is nice! Be prepared for a long walk anywhere you want to go!

Certainly not 5*Posted Sep 30, 2017
Pros: Staff and food
Cons: Plenty- see above.
I stayed for a conference, at my own expense. The food served throughout the conference was wonderful, and the staff were all very courteous and helpful. However, I would not recommend your hotel to my friends. I had a lot of problems with the electrics in my bedroom. Two or three times my key wold not work and I had to trek back to reception to get it recalibrated. The bathroom light was flickering when I first arrived, but was fixed by maintenance when I reported it. The wardrobe lights came on whenever I walked anywhere near the wardrobe. Not good in the night. One of the bedside lamps buzzed all the time it was on. The hairdryer didn't work (Housekeeping brought me another one) The window would only open a crack. Glass recycling and staff chatting and shouting outside my window after midnight. Lumpy pillows. Frayed towels. Doors from inside hotel to outside in a terrible state of decoration with paint missing.

Lovely Hotel. A real surprise.Posted Sep 30, 2017
I booked this and my friends were very impressed. Try to stay at park Hotel rather than Plaza if you like old Vs new. Didn't look at adjacent plaza but bar etc was in that and was clean and modern. both hotels are ajoined- just different entrances- a bit confusing when you drive up the massive driveway, but all part of the fun/ exploration feel.

Nice old fashioned hotelPosted Sep 22, 2017
We enjoyed our one night stay. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds. The decor of the room wasn't to our taste but it was clean and comfortable. For £10 each the breakfast is pretty good.
