Dirty.Posted May 31, 2015 on Hotels
The drive up to the hotel left us with high expectations, the lake to the right is stunning, the hotel reception wonderfully inviting, the receptionist staff very welcoming, the room.......a complete let down! Dirty would be too nice a word to describe the family lodge we stayed in. The cobwebs indicated the room hadn't been deep cleaned for a very long time, the scum around the complimentary soap dispenser in the bathroom was disgusting, the dust over a whole wall was so thick I could have written my name in it! Dust on the picture frames, dirty net curtains, a hunt under the sofa cushions for my sons toy led us to a carpet of crumbs and dirty cotton buds. The bedding on one of the beds was torn. Run down we can forgive, Unhygenic is just not acceptable. After commplaining to the very apologetic and helpful receptionist (who asked if it was my partner who had just come in and complained - it wasnt, but that told us alot!!) called the manager. He offered to move us to a studio room, which I inspected before agreeing to.I left with the agreement that if on the return of our family day out, the room wasn't up to scratch, then we would demand a refund. In the end we did stay but possibly because of my experience in the previous room I couldn't help but scrutinise everything, cobweb on a light fighting, a broken blind in the bathroom, the light bulb gone above the mirror in the bathroom. I think its safe to say that we would not stay here again.

Poor cleanlinessPosted May 18, 2015 on Hotels
Sadly the room was dirty, sellotape left on the floor from previous inhabitants, a toilet that had not been cleaned properly and long grey hairs trodden in to the carpet. Corners looked like they hadn't seen a hoover or duster for a very long time. Staff were nice and the surroundings were beautiful.

will never use again!!Posted May 14, 2015 on Hotels
Arrived 5am, had to find our room, room was smelly, carpet stained all over, beds and mattresses were cheap and uncomfortable. Needed room for 5 persons. One pull out small double sqeaky bed and 2 single beds! Bathroom had been upgraded and was very nice but water dribbled from shower!! Low water pressure! Bathroom was much nicer than the rooms eould have been better of sleeping in there!!

improvment neededPosted Apr 17, 2015 on Hotels
I stayed in the village apartments, unfortunately the first apartment was not good, matress poor quality and bed not well made with untidy old bed linen. I was relocated to a better room of more satisfaction. The food at the hotel was nothing great for the price but hotel facilities were good and staff were helpful.

Reasonable place to stay with a familyPosted Apr 14, 2015 on Hotels
We had booked a family room, and got a room in the village complex. What was good was that we had a private entrance, two rooms and an ensuite. The room was in a fair state of decoration with a television and seating area. What wasn't particularly good for us as a family was that the double bed was a fold out of a cupboard low bed, which meant that I couldn't use it, so my children had to. The beds in the other room were twins which would have been perfect for the children had the double bed been more suitable. None of the beds were overly comfortable. There were good facilities in the hotel (swimming etc), breakfast wasn't included so we didn't eat at the hotel. But the staff were polite and helpful.

Bedrooms in desperate need of refurbishment !!!!Posted Apr 14, 2015 on Hotels
The bedrooms in this hotel are in desperate need of refurbishment. Whilst the bathroom looked great the toilet didn't flush properly and took an age to refill, which is fine if your on your own but not sharing. You can here very clearly guests talking in next room, not loudly just talking normally - very annoying, especially when your trying to get an early night and next door return at midnight - there can't be an isolation in the partition walls - bad, bad, bad. TV screen was way to tiny for distance from bed to wall fixing, bed was noisy and lumpy. Apart from that service we received was excellent, full English breakfast was to die for, location for what we were doing was excellent.

Book a room in the hotel. Not the Village.Posted Apr 8, 2015 on Hotels
The hotel its self is fine. The Village accommodation isn't. It's like a 1960's holiday camp stuck in the past. The rooms had stains on every carpet, the pull down bed had thick dust at the bottom & the decor was awful.

Looking forward to going again.Posted Mar 7, 2015 on Hotels
2 adults and 2 children stayed on Saturday for one night. We stayed in the village part where the room we had was a good size and clean. We all used the pool and leisure facilities which were very good for both adults and children. Stayed for breakfast in the morning which was excellent. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Will definitely be going back in the future.
