Close proximity to just about everything, this quiet spot in pacific heights is a great place to take SF at a leisurely house, while getting a sense of the architectural and artistic styles in the city at the turn of the last century. and the staff was supper friendly and helpful, arranging everything we needed!

This is our 3rd stay at the Kimpton Buchanan and we enjoy coming there. The staff is helpful. The lobby decor seems to change over time, but is always interesting. They have wine in the lobby 5 - 6 each day, which is a very congenial time.
The room furnishings are not conventional hotel. It is interesting and nice, and a bit different
This stay we were cursed, it seems. One night no soap; one night had a screeching ventilation fan; one day the room was not made up; one night when the screeching fan returned, we had a choice of no ventilation/heat or change rooms, which we did. If we didn't enjoy the hotel so much, I would have left a bad review. I trust they will get on top of these operational issues.
The location is perfect. Across from Japantown, which has bountiful restaurants, shops, concourses, etc. Within walking distance of downtown areas and attractions and parks. Not too much traffic or noise. They have bikes for guests to use.
Only one major complaint. They have parking adjacent to the hotel, which we paid for in the past. This year, they have contracted with a valet parking operation, who parks the cars within the hotel lot anyway. But the price of parking is $55. a night, which is almost twice the cost of the car rental. Yes, it's in the city, but that's a downtown price. We found a parking area about a mile away, but felt better than feeling ripped off. Hey Kimpton: Loose the valet and drop the rates, please.

The hotel itself is pretty amazing and charming. The rooms were very nice with everything we needed. We stayed in the one bedroom suite. The only negative was prob the pull out bed was not very comfortable but we needed a separate room for my husband and son while I needed to go night feeding for our baby. Parking is not free but reserved for hotel parking right across the street. The breakfast was great and the staff was super attentive and wonderful! It's also walking distance to Japan town, Filmore St which has lots of restaurants and about 13 blocks from union square. Would stay here again and recommend it.

The Nob Hill Motor Inn is in a great location, just off Polk Street. Short walk to cafes / food / bars / shopping / public transport. There is a great deli on the corner called Cheese Plus, which serves great coffee and local produce. Excellent neighborhood, easy walk to Union Street too.
The motor inn itself has comfortable rooms which are a little dated, but the beds are excellent. I had a great night sleep every night for my stay. Cleaned room every day to excellent standards.
Staff were helpful. One receptionist did have some a very loud argument on the phone with someone at 6am, which I heard very clearly in my room.

Loved this hotel! Perfect little place right in the midst of city living. Parking was a little tight because we have a SUV but I was so impressed they didn't charge for parking, that that's what initially drew us to this hotel. We will DEFINITELY stay here again and recommend to our friends! Little side note that doesn't affect stay at all, but Next time I'll bring my own pillow though, woke up with a bit of a kink. 😉

Super clean, cool, edgy decor, and a very comfortable big bed. Every room on the ground floor has a cute little bistro set outside the door for chillin and drinkin with buddies by the pool. I think the second floor rooms get private balconies, at least some of them. The front desk guys are super friendly and stop short of being intrusive. My only "meh" about this place is a pretty lame water pressure and slow bathroom sinks. But California plumbing is generally garbage so they can keep their 5 stars from me. Love the free parking lot, super convenient.

Neither in the residential area or Fisherman's Wharf area, good if you are looking to buy a new car.
A slightly tired older hotel, now undergoing a much needed refurbishment from the top down, hope they don't go too ultra modern.
The complementary buffet breakfast is nice though, as is the coffee on tap in the lobby.
Access to the Drive In restraunt on the ground floor was also useful having gluten free foods available.
We needed a budget hotel quickly as the Sheraton was not prepared to move our pre-booked dates, although they admitted they had space.
