It feels more like a boutique 5* hotel with attention to detail and luxury furnishings. “The room was not serviced on two days out of four - the reason given was that the housekeeper did not work those days. The restaurant was closed for evening meals at short notice. The entrance door was closed and locked early in the evening and my keys did not work on occasions.”

“We felt right at home from the moment we met Freda outside her lovely B&B. Our room was clean and cool, bathroom was very nice as well. Big TV and coffee & Tea on our table. The house itself is very charming and historic. The next day we were greeted by a hearty and delicious homemade breakfast by Freda, we even got to meet Gypsy! Her sweet doggie. We loved our short time in Dumfries, I hope we make our way back there again. We will definitely be staying at the Huntigdon once more”

“The Hill Hotel was a great. Everything was immaculate . Location was great as well. Less than a 5 minute walk from train station and very close to town. The owners Lynne and Terry were fabulous host. Hopefully going back to Scotland in couple of years and will definitely stay here again.”

The property is in the process of being updated but this didn't affect our stay except perhaps to see how well it appears to be going and I'm sure when this is finished they will have a hotel to be proud of. They have only owned this hotel for about 6 months and it is obvious they are making huge efforts to update……
