New, modern, poorly trained staff

Posted Jul 22, 2016
Cons: better staff training and improved breakfast.
Check in took 35 minutes to be assigned a room that smelled like an ash tray filled with cig butts, then another 15 min. to be assigned another room.

Unexpected Luxury!!

Posted Jul 18, 2016
Pros: Thoughtfulness and accommodating. Clean and comfortable. Great staff!
Fantastic accommodations, and basically everything about this place outstanding! Worth the time (less than an hour either direction) to leave the larger towns nearby for this quality and price. We added to our contacts for future reservations as this is a route we take several times each year.

A Beacon of light on a long dark highway

Posted Feb 4, 2016 on Hotels
This place is a beacon of light on a long dark highway through several scattered small towns. It was crazy good for being in the middle of nowhere Texas. And excellent for the price. It was a wonderful surprise and relief for a road weary traveller. The place was packed. But somehow the parking lot had space for numerous passenger cars and no less that six cars towing trailers of various sizes. (I was one of the trailer people.) The guy at the counter was exceedingly friendly and helpful. I'm sad that I don't remember his name. This place was impeccable. There were little touches that you would find in higher end hotels, such as complimentary bottled waters in the room, complimentary 'travel towels' (basically heavy duty napkins), decorative pillows and a TV remote that was weirdly wrapped in a sterile foam snuggie and labeled 'fresh'. I guess this was to prove that the remote had been wiped and cleaned? At any rate I've never seen anything like that before, and I've travelled quite a bit. I found it charming. The breakfast was good and stayed open "late" till 10am, which was nice because we came in late and weren't going to wake up early. Eggs, waffles, bacon, toast, cereal - all the standards were there. The waffle iron made waffles in the shape of Texas, which I found amusing.Regarding the neighborhood, it was a small town and we came in at night, so basically everything was shuttered. So not sure what is around the vicinity.
