Good stopping point between Chicago & NY

Pros: Extremely cheap. Everything overnight interstate travelers need, without paying for things they won't use, like a pool. There's laundry machines too.
Cons: HD TV channels would be nice, and the AC units could use modernizing, but they're fine. Exercise room could use a chin-up bar, but that's just me.
Location: There's an Applebee's right down the hill for those late travelers arriving after the onsite restaurant closes.
This is the old Quality Inn/Econo Lodge. Clarion hotels have switched around a bit. I've been stopping here for years, on my way from Chicago to NY and back. It's not fancy, and picky travelers might call it 'run down' but if a cheap room and a bar/restaurant onsite is all you need, then this is the place. Recently rebranded as a Motel 6, so no more in-room coffee machines or little bottle of shampoo/conditioner, and the free breakfast is gone, but for 35% - 40% cheaper, I won't miss them. My room had a microwave and refrigerator. Desk Manager apologized for putting me on the second floor, but it's quieter up there, compared to my last stay. The Cozumel Mexican restaurant attached is pretty good, and it's nice to be able to have a beer without leaving the hotel.

The place was kind of a mess

They were in the middle of changing from EconoLodge to Motel6, the second change in about a year. The grounds were kind of a mess and the amenities seemed to change from the previous chains. I have stayed at this motel many times over the past 30 years and the staff is always gracious.

not worth the money

should have stayed somewhere else. bad service​. no breakfast. couch throw cushions for pillows but in a normal pillow sheets. very old room so I couldn't tell if it was really dirty or just old or both. if it wasn't​ really late when I got there, I would have just went to another place.

Clean decent room at a great price and good location to visit my daughter at college. Close to several stores and restaurants
