Expensive for the area but very nice.

A charming place that should cost a bit less. There was no housekeeping service between our two nights there, a family with children was placed in a room above ours and of course the children were obnoxious, and the food at the continental breakfast wasn't replenished quickly enough for the amount of people in the dining room.

History Awakened...

Posted Mar 11, 2016 on Hotels
The stay was wonderful! The room was clean and very spacious. The continental breakfast was absolutely wonderful and the ambiance was stunning. If you want to taste the best wines in the area and see the art produced in the county, you are only steps away from the Lake County Wine Studio. You are sure to meet the locals and be greeted warmly. The Blue Wing Cafe is the only eatery in the town....literally. However there is sure to be something on the menu to enjoy. Except for the Internet access for business; that will be definite challenge for business travelers, you will enjoy the history of the hotel. It is by far a living history that you'll want to experience atleast...once each year!

Thank you for your kind comments! We're glad you took advantage of the Lake County Wine Studio. There are over 30 tasting rooms in our small county and award winning wines abound all around the lake. We're sorry your internet access wasn't good at the time you stayed with us. We've improved our internet service and all seems well so far. Back in the day, Upper Lake attracted visitors from the bay area who stayed at the Tallman Hotel and then journeyed to the nearby hot springs to "take the waters." There is lots of history in the area. We hope we'll see you again in the coming months.

Comfy cozy hotel

Posted Jan 5, 2016 on Hotels
This is a renovated Victorian house and they have done a nice job....very comfy cozy rooms in the main building. There are also rooms in separate buildings that we didn't see. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was sort of disappointing, but ok. A restaurant/bar that is part of the hotel (I think) was also nice, with friendly staff and also ok food. Upper Lake, where the hotel is located, is sad and depressing..,empty stores, nothing to see or do, although the area is pretty.

Thank you for your review and we're glad you were pleased with your room and were able to enjoy the Blue Wing. Our little town of Upper Lake does need a few more shops and businesses. But the county has 25 tasting rooms and some nice hiking and biking trails as well as wonderful kayaking along the lake shore. We hope to see you again sometime.

Great location, off main road to a quiet street. Hotel is luxury with a great price. Rooms are large and you feel like you are in a suite. Breakfast is wonderful, staff always friendly & helpful. Really nice restaurant on site. Towels and linens great, shower perfect...really have nothing bad to say at all. Highly recommend, and I value recommendations when I'm making hotel reservations-and I travel a lot.

Everything was perfect, except staff was very short with us for checking out at 11:20 am when stated check out time was 11 am. Seemed a little over zealous about checking out at precise minute.
