Hotel not up to basic expectations

Pros: location
Cons: Communication from the staff upon check-in for known issues in the room and hotel, and empathy/genuine concern about how all of theses issues
Location: Location is great, it's on the Pinellas side of the bay, so easy access to Tampa as well as St PEte or Clearwater.
My recent stay at this hotel was not acceptable. First, the internet was very slow, and practically speaking to reply to emails and perform basic work functions, it wouldn't work. Secondly, there was a dirty pair of children's underwear hanging on the shower rod in the bathroom, which was very unsanitary. And third, the tub drain wasn't working. When I brought this up to the hotel staff upon checkout, she apologized without much concern, and even admitted they know the internet issue and that the drain that room they assigned to me needs repair. Yet I wasn't told of this upon check-in, and charged in-full anyway.

Staff was rude

It is fine for passing through

Pros: walking distance to Panera and good Greek and Mexican restaurant.
Cons: Complete make-over.
Rusty Bathtub - the faucet had a fast leak all weekend long, couldn't sleep. woman in the room next to me lived there with her barking dog and potted plants all over the walkway. Fine for passing through but wouldn't recommend for a weekend get-away. It's just old and needs a make-over.

Where to start, well my 1st room was so close to the trash can that the smell was coming in from the a/c. Told the front desk for two days before they did anything about it. I was finally moved to another room and went to use the microwave and it was not cleaned at all. Had to move from that room (roaches) no fault of the room but finally was moved to a room that was tolerable. One particular manager played the blame game and it took 36 hours you get a box of tissues. She just chose not to go look for them. Had me waiting in my room over half the day because she said she would bring them up. She looked like she didn't even want to be at work and that coming down and asking for something was an incomvience to her. There were a couple great employees but she was not one of them.

Awful

The staff was quite pleasant. The room was filthy. For a non smoking room, it smelled like smoke. There was a box of Marlboros behind the tv, a cigar behind the bed on the floor. A dollar bill and two plastic gloves under the bed as well as a dirty cup. Obviously I didn't touch them. There was a huge brown stain on the wall that washed off with water. Why I had to do that and not the staff? And a dirty washcloth in the shower

Hotel has full size fridges and a stove

Nice size bathroom, closet, and kitchen. The carpet had a few spots that needing cleaning. The wood floors in the bathroom and kitchen was nice and looked good. We had problems in our room with no hot water in the shower just warm.
