Starling's Rest, sleeps 10, Pool/Spa, Playground

Starling's Rest is located in northern Alexander Valley, Cloverdale/Asti and sits on eight acres of hillside overlooking Alexander Valley's vineyards and redwoods. The property stretches from valley floor to a ridge, sandwiched between vineyards, and offers dramatic views clear across the valley and features an in ground solar heated pool, large outdoor deck with hot tub, porch cinema and propane grill, and play area on a beautiful green lawn.

Starling's Rest is the perfect retreat at the end of a a busy week, with Healdsburg,Geyserville, and Windsor a 15-20 minute drive, along with Coppolla Winery Resort, Sonoma Lake for boat rentals, the Russian River, wineries, restaurants and Anderson Valley (famous for Pinot and apples), and of course the vineyards and wineries of Sonoma County.

Our guests drive through a stone gate and just a few hundred feet up the hillside to Starling's Rest. A large front deck accents the front of the home and accommodates a large table for dining.

Enter the house from the front porch and into the great room, designed for entertaining this contemporary styled area, in the heart of the house. Vaulted wood beamed ceilings, TV and sofas offer a nice conversation area. This open room connects to the modern gourmet kitchen and is one of three distinct living spaces; the TV lounge, Fireplace Lounge, and spacious dining room.

Four bedrooms and three total bathrooms are provided.

With the new modern kitchen, guests can easily prepare elaborate meals, and have lots of counter space, modern appliances, including Viking, Fischer Paykel double oven, warming drawer, large refrigerator freezer, dishwasher and 2 prep sinks. Guest bath is convenient to kitchen and a quick stop from the pool.

Exit onto the back deck for the hot tub, gorgeous in ground, solar heated pool. Thousands of starlings swirl and rest in the trees above during late fall and early winter months. Deer, quail and rabbits also live near and visit the hillside. A 7 person hot tub, and quality outdoor furniture are provided.

The vineyard views at the front of the home are perfect in the morning with coffee, juice or continental breakfast. In the evening the west facing front deck enjoys spectacular views and sunsets across the valley. And late into the evening the stars are amazing here.

Starling's Rest is in a pocket of little or no light pollution. Take visual ride on the milky way and get lost in the country, even if it's just for a weekend. SCP 387

Perfect location, perfect home!
Our family of 10, 6 adults and 4 children couldn't have been more happy with this home! First off, the location was perfect, just off #101 but a million miles away as far as the area - beautiful vistas, quiet couentryside but easy access to a grocery store if you need it. We never left from the time we arrived on Tuesday until Saturday. The home is lovely and has everything our family wanted - a swimming pool, hot tub, a play structure and a huge lawn for all imaginable games. Plus the outside has a huge gas grill and two firepits and a movie screen for late night movies, not to mention the two large decks. Then you walk inside to a beautiful, well-appointed, expansive family room, and well stocked kitchen all open and so inviting. The master suite was huge and the big surprise for our 4 and 6 year old grandchildren was a bedroom with a set of bunk beds! Our host was very helpful with two questions we had and got right back to us! We are definitely planning a trip back to this location!

Great host. Beautiful outdoors. Needs a little maintenance.
Overall great experience. Pam is a great host and incredibly responsive! Beautiful backyard! Has everything you can hope for ! Play structure is awesome, the kids had a blast! The house needs a little maintenance: some chairs are broken/loose, carpets need a clean, front deck needs to be repaired, umbrellas replaced. Nothing major but it adds up at this price point.

Great break
This place was a wonderful break for myself and my 3 girls. Given Covid, it's location away from other houses or people was perfect and the pool was fantastic. The kitchen is great and amazingly well stocked. The master bedroom/bathroom is a little tired but for our purposes it couldn't have been better. Pam, the host, is super communicative and helpful.

Good home for weekend trip with families
House layout is nice for multiple families to stay for an extended weekend who plan to mostly stay at the house (due to location not being ideal in my opinion). The best part is the outdoor area - great saltwater pool, kids area, grassy section, and outdoor furniture, its where we spent most of the time. Based on the price per night - I would say some updating to the interior would be nice - bathrooms/bedrooms are dated, no king size beds, the shower broke while we were there and it caused flooding to the bathroom floor - they were really responsive and got someone out SUPER FAST to fix it though. Location is not what I would consider "the best"...its not as upscale as other sonoma/napa county cities and we had to drive south to Healdsburg for wine tasting and better food options and can be a pain with kids in tow.

Peaceful Retreat
We rented the house for some quality time with our adult daughters and their families. The house was clean and ready for us. We were greeted with a card, chocolates, and much needed water. The backyard was pure bliss for us. The pool is large and the perfect temperature. There were plenty of pool toys and floats to keep us entertained. My grandsons loved the play structure and large lawn where we played kickball! The view from the backyard is lovely and from front deck was stunning. I sat on the porch swing each evening and watched the sunset. Very beautiful and peaceful. The house and kitchen had everything we needed so we only left one day to visit Lake Sonoma. The property manager was easy to communicate and answered many questions! I recommend the house for a peaceful retreat and quality time with family.
