I did not stay myself but reserved for two French colleagues who (after joking about English food) were genuinely complimentary about the evening meal and breakfast.

Nothing to dislike, everything was perfect, clean, friendly staff, a little expensive on the drinks but otherwise room comfortable and the service was excellent and staff were very friendly.

Seen better days.
This very old heritage building is sadly in need of some TLC. We were upgraded to an Executive Room, which made us wonder what a standard classic rooms' condition might be. Meal charges were excessive for the standard of food available. Staff were very pleasant & helpful.

The restaurant service was really poor. The hotel room stay and reception were very nice though. But the experience at the restaurant brought down our rating of the hotel.

We stayed one night while visiting relatives in the area and attending Wimbledon and it was perfect. In the countryside on10 acres, it retains the feel of a Victorian era home, with decor, creaky staircases and secret rooms. In fact, we stayed in Lillie Langtry’s room, where she apparently stayed as friend and mistress to Edward VII. Our room had a secret closet area that connected secretly to his room! Not only historical but comfortable! We felt very cozy in this hotel but also with room to wander having drinks outside under the lights and breakfast outside overlooking the grounds. A short stay but would choose it again!

Need to up their game
Premium prices for a not so premium experience. Staff varied from clueless and sullen to friendly and helpful. Very inconsistent service and front of house struggled to deal with queries. Whilst the experience wasn’t shockingly bad it also didn’t justify the prices charged.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful setting. I was travelling with my young son and they couldn’t have been more attentive and helpful. Only issue we had was it took a little while for our meal to be prepared in the evening, travelling with other adults this wouldn’t have been a problem but 5 year olds tend not to wait so patiently!

We found the hotel to be modernised where it needed to be but without losing the country house feel. We only needed a base for two nights but it was good to be able to relax on nice surroundings for the first time in over a year.
