Good value and location

Posted Mar 13, 2015
Pros: As above
Cons: As above
Location: Only a 200 metres from Vasco de Gama square and the Chinese fishing nets. If you feel like a drink - the XL pub is on the same street.
No hot water but warm enough not to need it. Rooms are a little dark as no external windows but this makes it nice to sleep in. The internal courtyard is pleasant and the staff very accommodating.

Hotel with great character

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: Loved the garden restaurant, and the beautiful old timber work of balconies etc. Must have been an amazing home in its hey-day.
Cons: As always in India, attention to small maintenance details - eg bathroom towel rail unattached at one end.
Location: Only a very short walk to the 'park' area which fronts the famous Chinese fishing nets at the foreshore. Also very near to the Vasco Da Gama church.
I arrived very late at night, but staff were quickly available for check-in. Initially placed in a family room, next morning I was transferred to the room I had booked, which was very roomy, and comfortable. There is considerable history attached to the building's origins, and it's age is evident from the timber work .. eg floorboards a bit creaky in places. But that's part of Rossitta's attraction . . . .

Friendly staff, good location

An old colonial style building close to sites of interest in Fort Cochi. Staff were great. Wood Mansion rooms a bit disappointing. Over all though a nice glace to stay.

Pretty courtyard

Posted Jan 29, 2014
Pros: The courtyard
Cons: Bright, local tablecloths and candles would really improve the ambiance! Move staff quarters.
The courtyard was pretty with large shady trees. Very pleasant to sit out day and night. I also like the wooden walls, which gave the hotel a tradional feel. A couple of concerns though: The staff quarters are between the reception and guest rooms, which gives them little privacy since the door in one room is left open and the other one doesn't have a door. Nor is it particularly attractive for guests passing by. On one night, an outsider (non-guest) party was held in the courtyard, which became progressively noisier towards midnight, and despite my complaints, they were unable to be quietened. The party culminated in some kind of an argument and punches were thrown outside my door, which was rather disturbing. The manager, however, was extremely apologetic the next day.

Meh!

Posted Mar 7, 2013
Pros: Old world charm and location
Cons: Everything else
Location: Walking distance to the Chinese nets and the harbour..
Since it is somewhat of a vintage building, the property has a lot of character. The location is great - walking distance to the harbour. That said, it is very very basic and do not expect the comforts of a good stay. It is just functional. Big let down was the food. Do not bother eating at the hotel - the food is canteen food at best and the service and hygiene pathetic. The hotel "restaurant" (if you can call it that ) is apparently run by an independent contractor and is no better than street food and a bit pricey for the fare offered. It is a bit of a shame as the property has a lot of potential and could offer more for the value of the money charged. Other than the vintage character and location - every thing else was MEH!

Great place to stay in Cochin

Posted Feb 24, 2013
This is a very conveniently situated hotel close to the centre and Chinese fishing nets. The staff are friendly and welcoming and you can get a good meal here too. Pleasant shady courtyard with rooms around it. a good place to spend a few nights.

Not as it appears

Posted Jan 23, 2013
Pros: Courtyard area.
Cons: No hot water. Bad food.
Location: It has an extremely good location.
The rooms are not as they appear in pictures - they are much more dilapidated. There was no warm water in the two different rooms we stayed in, including after asking for assistance from staff over 4 times. The courtyard is very nice, but the food is very bad compared to what is available outside.

disappointing

Posted Jan 18, 2013
Location: very good location
We did not find the reality of the rooms lived up to the on-line description and they were more basic than we had imagined especially for the money. We had a specific problem with one room in that the door woudl not shut securely. The staff were not especially helpful. The central location is good.

good spot for unpicky travelers on a budget

Posted Dec 28, 2012
Pros: The courtyard and the location
Cons: small room size and dodgy bathroom
Location: close to beach and tourist areas
Good location. Small rooms. Backpacker vibe. Bathroom small, with a slightly icky odour. Cute outdoor area. Need to improve service for breakfast.
