Okay but noisy.

Posted Jan 17, 2017 on Orbitz
Cons: They could close the liquor store at midnight.
Location: Playa Del Coco has probably seen better times. There's an air of desperation and seediness about it. It's stuck in the 70's. I'd skip it.
The hotel initially placed us into a room without any windows. There's a whole wing of these dive rooms adjacent to the check-in counter. Just outside the room in the hallway a loudspeaker played rock music that came straight though the thin door. The room had a funky odor. My wife strongly objected so the hotel staff agreed to move us to another room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the park, a huge improvement, though it too had a funky smell but we left the window open so it that mostly cured the odor. We were warned about some noise from a nearby disco and offered earplugs. In truth the disco noise wasn't all that bad, mostly a deep thumping in the distance and it didn't affect any our sleep. However, at about 3:00 am we were all woken by loud yelling, talking and singing., car noise, all right outside our window. Apparently the hotel has a 24 hour market that sells alcohol and all the town drunks head over there to finish the evening. The racket lasted until daybreak. It made all of us feel uneasy as the crowd was just outside our room balcony. My recommendation to stay at this hotel is colored by the town. I don't think the town is good for families. However, if you're looking to get stone drunk, possibly mugged, and need a place to crash, the hotel is probably as good as it comes in Playa Del Coco.

Pleasant hotel close to the beach

Posted Jan 14, 2017
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable, the food good, everything kept clean. Overall good value for money for Costa Rica.
Cons: The shower plumbing was a bit old. The shower fitting in the wall was loose and it took me a few days to work out which control did what.
Location: The nearby beach is ok. Several scuba places offer trips out for scuba and snorkelling. Fishing trips are available. The town has bars and restaurants
The hotel is a minute away from the beach and the main street. My room was pleasant, the staff were great and the varied food on the menu was good. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with the friendly staff who get to know their guests, something that is usually missing from larger hotels.

Staff, pool and bar were good, room was not.

Room was old and dingy with an odd smell. Three beds of various shapes and sizes, all uncomfortable. Pool and bar were good. Breakfast was expensive. Staff was very nice.

Couldn't stay

The staff tried very hard to find us something suitable at the hotel but just couldn't. In the end we had to cancel out reservation.

Dont stay here if you want to sleep

Posted Mar 14, 2016 on Hotels
Booked 2 rooms for my family. No exterior windows in either room. Loud, booming, non-stop techno music started at 9:00pm and lasted until 3:30am from a casino right next door. Impossible for any of us to sleep that night. Total rip-off and disappointing stay in what otherwise is a cute, friendly beach town.

Relaxing stay

Posted Feb 28, 2016
We stayed with two kids. Our room had lots of space the pool was great and staff excellent. There is noise from pubs a block away at night but ear plugs and no issue. Sushi was good but very expensive
