The hotel has a great location to the downtown area. The rooms are large with comfortable twin beds. The hotel staff are very helpful & friendly.

Some things were good.

The room for size and amenities was good. However, the hotel cannot provide both heat and air conditioning. The system apparently can only do one or the other so the heat was on and the hallways were extremely warm and even with everything turned off in our room it was too hot for sleeping. We had to open the windows which meant we had street noise and lights from other buildings. There was also a strong cigarette smoke smell that would come into our room, we assume through the vents somehow. The front desk staff were very helpful in recommending excellent restaurants in the area.

Excellent hotel with attentive and welcoming staff

Really nice hotel with very large rooms and extremely clean The staff were excellent and made sure that we were made welcome A couple of very good restaurants nearby Only thing missing was a credencial stamp for my camino passport that I would have thought was a must I will definitely stay at this hotel again

Nice hotel large room

Close to old city wasn't m pressed with the town as we thought Oporto was much better. Went to Facebook bus for the day.

Perfect location to see Coimbra

Pros: The location and staff.
Cons: The rooms could be updated.
Location: Coimbra main sights, Bucaco and Luso.
This hotel is walking distance from Coimbra main sights. Also Bucaco and Luso are 30 min away. The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but could benefit from some updating.

Echoes of faded glory

There is no doubt that when it was first commissioned this was a GREAT hotel. But that was then. Although the property has all the trappings of a 5* hotel, it hasn't had a facelift in years. So it is very 1990's with lots of dark wood and gloomy corridors. The reception is fine and once you are in the room it is fine (actually very large spacious rooms) but it just has that slighly old fashioned feel about it. The aircon was also very creaky and we had to get a maintenance guy up to boost it and then somehow it started piping stale cigarette smoke into the room which was a bit irritating although to be fair as soon as we mentioned it they gave us a discount. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the city itself and is fine for a brief visit but I wouldn't want to be there for too long.
