Awful Experience - Fairview Heights, IL

Check in was slow... was first put in a smoking room, which smelled awful ~ requested to be moved to a non-smoking room~ ending up being on the same floor a couple of doors down.. explained husband and daughter have breathing issues... could still smell smoke in our room. The beds were not comfortable at all. I had requested a hide-a-way bed when i booked online. Called the hotel the same day to make sure I could get a hide-a-way bed.. with no additional charge; was told "yes, no problem". When we checked in there was a charge for $15 on our bill, I explained no there should not be any additional charges, woman at desk said, ok = no problem. Continental breakfast was sad to say the least. The only protein available was either an egg, or yogurt. The waffle maker could not even make waffles well!!! Then at check out asked the man behind the desk about there not being an additional charge for the bed... "No, no charge for roll-away bed." He gave me my receipt, walked out the door and found a $15 charge for the bed!! I walked back in and spoke to the same man, and reminded him he just told me there would be no additional charge for the bed. He said, "No there is a charge, always a charge." WHAT!!! I reiterated to him what he told me before I walked out the door, that there would be no charge... He did take it off - but I will never go back! I stay in a hotel/motel 2-3 times a year in the area for family functions... I will not return here!!!
