Excellent rooms and comfy beds

Pros: Rooms were great! Good WiFi and internet. Comfy beds
Cons: Moving smoking area away from front door.
I really liked this hotel. Rooms were large and comfortable. WiFi was decent and having real wired Ethernet was even better. My only real complaint was that when we arrived there was a group of men right outside the front door smoking. Pretty much every time we went in and out of the building there were men smoking at the entrance. I don't care if people want to smoke but having to walk through a crowd of men loitering outside the building is a bit spooky. In their defense everyone was really nice and friendly. My suggestion though would be to create a smoking area 20 feet to the side of the doors so guests don't have to walk through the middle of groups of people smoking when they go in and out. My wife and I were both bothered by this and it's not somewhere I would recommend a single woman to stay at.

Room wasn't ready, no towels in room, felt icky.

We chose this hotel so we could have a suite set up where we could put our toddler in the enclosed bedroom to sleep and my husband and I could stay out in the living room on the pullout bed with our newborn next to the bed in his rock n play. For that, this hotel worked well. It was nice to have the separate bedroom for our daughter. Everything else was a let down. When we arrived, our room was still a mess from the last occupant so we had to get a different room. The room seemed ok las far as cleanliness but it is an older hotel and was just dreary and felt icky... Our room didn't have any towels so we called down to ask for some and apparently their dryer was broken so the manager was coming back shortly with towels from the laundromat. No big deal, they said it would be a few minutes and they asked for our room number and said the towels would be there soon. I assumed that meant that they would bring us up towels in a few minutes. No- we waited for 35 minutes and still no towels and when I called down to ask about them they said "oh yea, the towels are here." I said "was someone going to bring them up to us?" She said "um, what room number are you in?"... I said "no I'll just come get them". She said "ok then". Not cool. And we were waiting on towels with a toddler and newborn past their bedtime. This was annoying and to add to it, the pullout bed was super uncomfortable and creaky and it just seemed yucky in there :(. The staff was nice at the desk though

Who should you trust?

My only concern was the unavailability of our room when we arrived. It seems that Hotels.com are consistently over booking rooms according to Candlewood. I'm sure Hotels.com will blame Candlewood. Frankly I don't care who's fault it is, it needs to not happen to others. I'm sure we weren't the only ones that happened to this weekend. We saw two ther couples in the lobby on Saturday with the same exact problem. They couldn't fix it because there were NO rooms. Frustrating.
