A stay in history
Posted Mar 1, 2017
We're talking about a castle in Bensberg that received a Euro 100m makeover to bring it back to its former glory. As the saying goes - no expenses spared. And it shows. It's a cross between Versailles and Winchester Cathedral. Lots of high ceilings, cornices, huge windows, giant doors, plush carpets and wonderfully comfortable rooms in very ornate rooms with original art on the walls. Black granite double sinks in the bathroom and very deep baths complete with multiple sprayer shower heads.
Plenty of places to sit in the lobby, and lots of exploring to do in the hotel ( check out the 1st floor and the library, various corridors and salons, frescoes in the staircases and coats of arms replete with sculptures. Did I mention the art? Salvador Dali in the bar and Luepertz dotted around the place.
Hotel staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and they were kind and courteous.
