Great Location...quirky property.
The location of this hotel is great for the Christmas Markets...close to practically all of them! It was also close to shopping, bakeries, and nightlife! BUT...the hotel was a bit quirky. When booking this space I believe it was listed as 4 star...it definitely was not. Practicing a form of eco-friendliness, you receive 1 towel in the bathroom for 2 days and the rooms aren't serviced until after 48 hours. The bathroom was a tight space...a little bigger than a camper bathroom. As others of have said, there are no outlets near the bed to charge anything at night but if you know that in advance you can adapt. Unlike other reviews, I found the staff very friendly and helpful at managing requests/answering questions, and I never ran out of hot water in the shower. The Saturday price was 2.5-3 times as much as the Sunday-Wednesday. Given the time of year I guess that's understandable but I certainly wouldn't pay that again to stay there. This property wasn't horrible (I've stayed in worse) but I would select a different hotel in the future when visiting the city.

The only characteristic for a 4-star hotel of this property is its price. I can't believe this is an Expedia VIP property, really feels like three-star hotel from the FRG times. *Check-in: the self-check kiosk asked me to pay my reservation in order to complete the process, despite the fact the my booking was prepaid through expedia. I needed to ask for refund at the reception desk. I got my money back immediately, but still it was not a nice experience at all. *Rooms: small but rather clean. No kettle or even a drinking glass. The glass door of the shower was leaking and after I took a shower the floor was flooded. The floor towel did not help. *Expedia perks: At the time I made my reservation, and being a platinum Expedia member, I was promised a bottle of sparkling wine at check-in, plus a free access to hotel's swimming pool. After I asked for the wine, it was delivered to my room; still, no access to the pool was given. *Breakfast was the most disappointing thing. The website of the hotel says that on Sat and Sun the breakfast is served till 11:30, but I was denied access at exactly 11:00 by the staff in the breakfast area. I managed to get to the coffee machine and to make an espresso, but was asked to leave. I reported that immediately to the hotel's reception, and the lady working there politely said that the behavior of her colleagues wasn't professional. Still, I did not get even an apology of any sort.

Best capsule hotel I’ve ever stayed at! Extremely clean, quiet, and very conveniently located at the airport. Unfortunately the hot tubs weren’t working while I was there, but it was still a great stay. They provide body wash and lotion in the bathrooms as well as hairdryers. On your bed you are given a towel, pillow, blanket, and ear plugs. They don’t provide an amenity kit, shower bag, or slippers for the shower though so bring your own. The facilities are very clean and well decorated. There is a bar/ cafe area where you can purchase sandwiches, breakfast (oatmeal/ cereal, croissants, yogurt) and drinks. Nothing is free though Switzerland is expensive so be prepared for that. Overall a great stay but my only complaint is that if you are on a top bunk and want to switch to a bottom bunk, they will charge you $5CF.

At the end of a shopping street, thought still quiet. I only stayed for one night and it was the right fit. Bed was a bit firm for me, but no major complaints.

The room had a strong cigarette smell, I've found hair at several places, the bathtub wasn't properly cleaned, towels stained. It's truly baffling to book a 4* hotel, pay for a premium suite and find the room at this condition. Even though the service was nice and friendly, it does not make up for the filthy cleaning standards.

We decided to stay here because of the benefits of VIP but we never received those benefits. Carpet was dirty. Room smelled to cigarette. We asked the staff to make something to eliminate the odor but nobody came. Good location with parking.

Good hotel in the heart of Cologne.
Very friendly staff, great location, excellent breakfast, and well designed room. Room was a bit on the smaller side, but as a solo traveler this was not a problem. Efficient bathroom with good hot water. Fun 1960s decor. East walk to the cathedral.

Kind Staff, but Rooms Not What They Appear
The hotel has a great location, and the staff were very nice. However, the rooms did not meet expectations in size or quality. We paid extra money for a Junior Suite to have a sitting area and space for luggage. The staff insisted the room we received was a Junior Suite, but it was the same size or smaller than most standard European hotel rooms and it did not match the images on the website for a Junior Suite. The room had a small chair and desk, and while it had a king size bed, the bed took up so much of the room that small plastic night stands had to be used because that is all that would fit in the space. The plastic night stands seemed particularly cheap, and the room overall seemed as if it had attempted to be updated but done so too economically. I included a photo of our 'Junior Suite' to illustrate how it differs from what is shown on the hotel website.

Best deal ever.
This is an amazing deal. It is in easy walking distance of the train station and the Cathederal. The hotel is in the heart of everything It is very clean, modern and decorated in modern chic gray. The room is vey tiny but that is expected considering its excellent location. It is the best deal I have ever had on Hotels.com

Good choice, great location. Ideal base for seeing Cologne. Hotel not very bright at reception and bar quite small. I got an uprgade to suite so no complaints on the room, very nice. I would certainly use this hotel again on my next visit.

The nicest jail cell you'll ever pay for
If you want 1.5 jail cells as your accommodations, you're in luck! The paint on the walls is jail cell gray. The carpet is jail cell gray. The curtains are jail cell gray. The size of the room is about 50% larger than a typical American jail cell (so I'm told :) The shower is the size of one you'd find in an RV. It was clean, though! Location is good. Enjoy that twin bed resting nearly on the floor.

Average hotel for Cologne - An honest review!
I came for ISM Fair. The hotel was adequate but not as spectacular as some of the reviews I read led me to believe. My room was on the 6th floor, which required me to drag my luggage up a flight of narrow stairs since the elevator only goes to the 5th floor. My room had a separate room for the toilet and one for the bath, which made things a bit inconvenient since I am used to having both in the same room. The view from the window was of the service roof, nothing to see. It always amazes me how the hotels in Europe have the audacity to charge so much during trade shows but offer so little value in return (this is true for almost all hotels in Cologne, Nuremberg, Paris). But, business people are a captive audience.
