I know with cheap hotels you kind of expect that the experience won’t be great, but this one was pushing it even for me. We saw a live roach-type bug in the room, the chairs were dirty and had green stains on them, the bedspread had cigarette burns, and the smell was horrible. We were put in a non-smoking room, but a previous guest had taken the batteries out of the smoke detector and the room smelled burnt. It didn’t really smell like cigarettes or pot, so I think it must have been crack or meth. The front desk wouldn’t move us to a different room because they didn’t have any more “pet rooms” available, but that was disappointing because our dogs can’t possibly do as much damage as had already been done to that room. I bought $30 of air fresheners and spray at the truck stop next door to be able to stand it. They offered a refund, but we couldn’t afford the next highest hotel room. Breakfast was just coffee and packaged muffins. Sheets seemed clean, so we survived, but this was really borderline tolerable.
