The room had everything we needed and lots of things we didn't even know we would love. It had a Keurig for coffee and all the accompaniments. Super quiet even though our room was on the road side. The Columbia gorge hotel is next door. We had a drink one night and breakfast there the day we left.

Talk about a view!

Posted Aug 30, 2016
Pros: We liked the location, view, comfort, beauty of this place.
Cons: Hotel is fairly new and quite clean, but some very minor things should be attended to... missing tiles in shower, carpet stains, for example.
Location: Hood River is a great place to stay because of its beauty and proximity to so much to do--vineyards, hiking, river rafting, dining, breweries.
We stayed here as a group of 4 couples, each in a Euro King room. The hotel is only a mile from Hood River, but not a safe walk into town because of the highway. Our rooms were small but we weren't spending much time there. Comfortable beds, nice linens, a well-appointed bath (Aveda products and nice towels) contributed to a good night's sleep. The facility is beautiful with a view that takes your breath away. Our group spent some relaxing moments in the Adirondack chairs outside, taking in the view by day and the stars by night--while sipping wine from the many area vineyards. No breakfast, but rooms have a Keurig coffee maker and a fridge for fruit and yogurt. The historic and classic hotel next door has a nice dining room and patio if you want something nearby. Hood River, however, has many unique and fine restaurants for any taste--and budget.

Thank you for your feedback. I am so glad that your group was able to enjoy some of the fantastic offerings that Hood River and The Gorge offer. I will certainly look into the missing tiles and carpet stains and get those taken care of right away. I apologize for those. The fun summer activities have certainly taken a toll on the carpets we had cleaned just before summer hit.

Beautiful location with great views

Lovely place just minutes by car from all the action! My unit 23b had an outdated little tv with poor quality picture and probably the most basic cable package in the region...in this price range most travelers expect at least few HD channels and little better screen..imho

Thank you for your feedback. We do not have a unit 23b, so I am unsure which TV to check for maintenance issues. Our oldest TV on property is about 7 years old and possibly due for replacement, so I will definitely look into that. However, we have the best digital cable system available to us in this rural community, including several HD channels. This leads me to believe that there is a problem either with the connection on the TV, or the digital cable box. It would be great to know which room you stayed in so that I can remedy this issue.

Thank you for choosing Columbia Cliff Villas. We are sorry that you did not enjoy the entry level Euro sleeping room that you selected. We have many room types designed for many guests needs. Hood River attracts outdoor enthusiasts that are looking for a home base with a comfortable bed and shower to get cleaned up in, and our Euro sleeping rooms were designed with them in mind. For guests looking for more space and a room to spend a little more time in, we have several large suites and larger rooms to choose from. Please call us if you are back in the area and we can help you select a room that better suits your needs.

Pros: Great views.
Cons: The attached Columbia Cliff Hotel, built in 1921, has a dining room that is musty and smelly, like it was last aired out in 1922.
We had a Euro King room. It was the smallest hotel room I have ever checked into. How small? There was not even a closet in the room. The room was perhaps 10x11 feet plus a small bathroom and a tiny hallway. Our room had an excellent view of Route 84, the area's major highway. Our friends were in a very nice river view room that had a closet and a large bathroom. But they couldn't sleep with the windows open because of noise from the train that ran directly under their windows. So basically you have a property squeezed between the interstate and the tracks. The hotel grounds were compact but lovely with the constant drone oft he interstate. There is no access to hiking trails or woodsy walks from the hotel. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. But before you book a room, check the square footage and know what you are getting.

The Columbia Gorge Hotel and restaurant is our next door neighbor and was in fact built in 1921, and is on the historical registry. We are not affiliated with the hotel except to say we are good neighbors and many of guests walk through the beautiful gardens to enjoy a meal and the historical ambiance of the hotel. For guests looking for more space and a room to spend a little more time in, we have several large suites in various areas of our property. Hood River is a city that was built between a highway and the river. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done about the train tracks that run along the river other than insulate the rooms well, which we have done.

Columbia Gorge Visit

Posted May 22, 2016
Pros: See above
Cons: Pricey for what we got - $190 incl taxes!
Location: Recreation of all kinds, wineries, good restaurants, etc.
Just one night after a winemakers dinner in vicinity - didn't want a 3 hour drive afterwards. Room was tiny but clean, newish, and sufficient. Bed was too hard for my liking and small - we had a queen and we have king at home. Nice grounds for a morning walk and beautiful location. On freeway, but good sound insulation - did not hear much road noise.

Thank you Jim for choosing Columbia Cliff Villas. It is great to hear that all the extra insulation we have is doing it's job. We do have many options on property with king beds. I know it is difficult to sleep in a queen when you are accustomed to sleeping in a king.
