Okay for price

Cons: Walls need more insulation.
Every thing was good other than we could hear other guest in room next to ours. Hotel was empty but they still put the two of us next to each other? I'm finding this to be our number one complaint with most hotels these days.

Close to river

Pros: That it did offer a breakfast with the room rate.
Cons: New carpet, hotel corridors not be so cold, smell fresher ( the hotel smelled old and musty), better front desk help.

The check in was a little slow, had a hard time with their system running our card. The breakfast was okay and felt like the hotel needs a good deep cleaning or new carpet (a lot of the carpet needed to be stretched) and it smelled like cigarette smoke in the lobby area and near the restaurant/lounge, even though there was a sign on the front counter saying this was a no smoking establishment. the whole place looked like it could have used a face lift.

Out dated hotel

Pros: Good location. Nice eating area for breakfast.
Cons: All the features listed above.
Location: In The Dalles and Hood River is close by.
Light switches in weird places. Power strip dangling off wall behind refrigerator to allow more outlets. No suction in bathroom fan. No tight seal around door so had to put towels on floor to keep hallway light out. Old (non flat-screen) TV.

Shilo Stay

Pros: Comfortable room. Clean.
Cons: Faster check in. Room entry was the room key w/the room's # on it----if you lose the key, anybody can enter.
Location: Grew up in the Gorge and love the area.
Though the hotel is dated, the room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was in the hotel's restaurant, and it was very good. The rooms had a refrigerator which we used. We arrived in the evening, the hotel was easy to find w/access off the freeway.

Pros: It's close to the interstate, it has nice views of the river, Mt Hood and the water.
Cons: Beds are not comfortable, filthy carpets, wifi usually unavailable, not enough soap and towels for number of guests. Food fair.

We go every year, same time same place. Wonderful staff, clean and pool is wonderful

An older hotel but a fabulous breakfast! People are nice and the view is terrific.

Poor location, dirty and poorly maintained.

Cons: Maintenance, cleanliness, overall updating!
Location: Hotel is well out of town center so there is not a lot. It is on the river so you can look at that but can't get to it.
This hotel is in poor condition and very dirty. It is well out of town and has the only restaurant and bar in the area. Both are filthy and should not be allowed to serve one prepare food. The hotel itself is dirty and facilities are not being maintained. AC units are old window type that do not work well or cool properly. Bathroom was dirty. Blanket on bed was threadbare and looked to be 30 years old or more.

Well kept grounds and nice view of courtyard.

Pros: Clean and convenient, also has a very good restaurant on premises.
Cons: Sprinklers tend to spray onto parked cars in certain areas and should be adjusted. The televisions should be upgraded to flat screens.
Location: Nice location. Convenient to freeway. Nice view of the Columbia River.
Easy check-in and polite and helpful staff. Room was a nice size and clean. Beds were comfortable. The television had good reception and many channels to choose from. In-room refrigerator is a nice convenience.

The sheets had stains on them still. Very outdated.
