Smokefree - lie, clean towels - no, disappointed

Posted Jul 16, 2017
Pros: The pool looked nice and they had a jacuzzi, but I did not try either. The breakfast staff was very nice.
Cons: CLEAN!
Location: Great waterfall site that we drove to. Spent 15 min there, it was very sweet. Hayden Run Falls.
The room obviously smelled like smoke. There were no sheets for the fold out bed, the towels had stains, the microwave in our room was from 1987. Had to walk through a hotel laundry room with a soaking wet carpet to get to our room (there had been a bad rain storm - but was that really the path to send us). The price shown on Expedia site was not what we were charged when calling Expedia. Wouldn't go back, or recommend until they make some effort. Perhaps this all could have been fixed if we had said anything, but we checked in at midnight and just needed to sleep. The man that checked us in was obviously ill. He had phlegm on his arm (YEP!) and had lost his voice. Felt sorry for him and honestly didn't want to go near him or to have him touch anything we needed. So we just went to sleep. When checking out they did not ask how my stay was. Just took my key and said "ok, that's it" When you don't ask how my stay was I figure a public review is the best place for them to learn.

Home away from home

Great place to stay but if you stay make sure you bring your own seasonings and sharp knifes they only give you butterknifes and they give you only two pans with no lid so bring your own. Other then that it is great. It was very close to everything we wanted to go and the lay out was beautiful.

Thank you very much for staying with us. We so appreciate your business. We were surprised by the missing utensils in the kitchen. I have asked my staff to do a detail inventory to avoid these problems. I apologize for your inconvenience. Please give us another try!

The hotel is nice however my room was dirty, bed not made so I asked for a new room and they gave me a new room but it had two beds instead of one and it wasn't clean either

We are currently undergoing a massive renovation and hope you will give us another try when it fits in your schedule to see our finished product. Again, I am sorry.

Hotel Rooms Under Renovation

Posted Jun 6, 2017
Night clerk was not helpful, room was left open by maids who did not finish cleaning it, not enough parking, room showed a lot of wear and tear.

kind of outdated

Posted May 31, 2017
Pros: Location and the 'suite' kitchenette.
Cons: Everything in the room I had needs replaced. Tub inserts, new carpet, cabinets, furniture, draperies and a good painting.
Location: Close to the zoo and freeways.
The location was good. The staff was great. The hotel overall shows promise. Other rooms may be great but the room I had was subpar. Just seemed old outdated, dusty and dirty. It was a suite with a separate bedroom. The furniture felt really old and worn. The sofa was stiff and worn. I didn't sit on the chair, it was stained and looked dirty. The tub area had tiles and the grout needs to be cleaned, (I did love the bath towels, soft). Again it shows promise but the room I had really needs updated and a good dusting.

Hi Terry! Thank you for your feedback. I am glad that you enjoyed your suite's features but am sorry that you left disappointed in other aspects of the room. As I'm sure you know, we are in the process of a full guestroom renovation in which everything is being replaced! I'm sure you'll love our new flooring, walls, art, appliances and amenities when you visit us again! We hope to welcome you back, Ashley

Hotel with potential, undergoing renovations

Posted May 25, 2017
Pros: The staff; they were great - very nice, very accommodating.
Cons: The placement of dumpsters during renovations; more careful checking of the bedrooms & bathrooms for complete linens.
Location: Very convenient to I-270; literally a few minutes off Exit 20. Close to shops & restaurants. 5-min drive to the zoo; 90 mins to The Wilds.
I knew I wanted to stay at this hotel for my trip to the Columbus Zoo & wild animal park, and I got a good deal on Expedia, for about 1/3 of the rate offered by the hotel's website, which thrilled me. That said, the hotel is undergoing renovations and dumpsters lined the parking lot, eating a lot of parking, and many guests had to double-park in such a way that they were nearly blocking through traffic & vehicles pulling out of regular spaces. Very inconvenient & awkward. Also, the photos on Expedia are OBVIOUSLY of a room already renovated; ours had appliances from the 1980s/early 1990s (NOTHING was digital except the clock in the bedroom). The room had obviously seen a lot of use, but it was fairly clean. One of our beds was missing its comforter and despite requesting another one, the best that could be done was a few extra blankets. The one day we had room service, we got fresh towels, but no bath mat. That said, the staff bent over backwards TRYING to be helpful and were very pleasant. They understood the renovations were making things difficult and tried to minimize inconveniences. A warning about the free breakfast "buffet" - the few hot foods offered tasted like something I'd expect in a school lunch line (little taste); bagels, English muffins & blueberry muffins were "toast your own", plus a couple of dry cereals. OJ & coffee were in carafes. Very cheap setup for such an expensive hotel. Try after renovations are completed!

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close to everything
My expectations were already high due to the pictures and reviews, but this place blew those away. The grounds were very nice, pool and spa was awesome, the room was fabulous, and the employees were super nice. I will be staying here every year for ROTR
