A scrumptious skillet of cornbread with poblano peppers, mango butter and local creamed honey from Lomonico's in Pickerington. A hidden gem of sorts sandwiched between a sports bar and a pet shop in a strip mall. This place has a welcoming atmosphere, nice plating, reasonable pricing and delicious menu offerings! A closeup of a slug as it encircles a mostly munched on Orange Mycena mushroom. Fajitas Zarape (translation; a woven, often brightly colored, shawl or cloak) from Mi Mexico.
Chicken, steak, shrimp and Mexican chorizo with yellow and green
zucchini, green peppers, onions and tomatoes topped with cheese and served with pico de gallo, sour cream, rice, guacamole and refried beans.
Basically, a little of everything from the kitchen piled up on a sizzling skillet. All luck, no skill on this downhill slope with a view of the castle on the mini-golf course at Magic Mountain Family Fun Center. A pair of hungry slugs making a meal out of a cluster of Orange Mycena mushrooms (Mycena leaiana). The Grilled Cheese Donut menu at Tom and Chee! I've got my eye on the bacon, chocolate and mozzarella deliciousness! A fungus that escapes my identification skills at the moment, but resembles translucent chewed bubblegum. This odd protrusion on this Elm leaf is caused by a tiny mite called Eriophyes ulmi. The damage is mostly aesthetic and the tree will carry on. Looking up from below the filtered sunlight highlights the gills on these tiny orange toadstools all clamoring for space emerging from the same crack in the bark of a downed limb. Grilled Cheese Doughnut!! A griddled glazed doughnut filled with cheddar cheese. Tom and Chee is a restaurant from Cincinnati that is expanding to the Columbus area. The menu starts with the basic Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese combo and the creativity flares outward from there. This sunny yellow and orange bracket fungus is exuding some sort of clear viscous fluid through a fun process known as fungal guttation. This creepy fungus that looks like zombie fingers clawing up from the grave is called Carbon Antlers (Xylaria hypoxylon). A Stromboli (or as the menu describes it, an Italian burrito) filled with pepperoni, ham, salami, onion, green pepper and mozzarella and provolone cheeses! Prost Beer and Wine Cafe is located in Reynoldsburg inside an old fire house of sorts. As the name implies, the main attractant for most is their vast beer and wine selections. For the non-imbibers, they also offer quite a tasty food menu.
This is the Cosmopolitan panini; prosciutto, triple cream brie, fig jam, mixed greens and balsamic vinegar served on ciabatta. The This fun guy doing his best impression of terrestrial sea coral grew into about a softball sized chunk in the shade of a decaying log. In the foreground, bracket fungi making their home on some fallen trees. In the background, the swamp-like conditions of the Walter A. Tucker Nature Preserve. The only thing missing is some good company. Somehow trouncing through the swamp with a partner seems more adventurous and less ridiculous than venturing out on one's own . Blueberry chocolate chip cookie bar!! A little hard to see from the photo, but the bun on this burger is a little special, it is soft in the middle but has a crust that can be described as a savory version of an elephant ear found at the state fair! The burger is finished off with Pat Lafrieda beef, gouda, lettuce and roasted tomato. The fries are heavily seasoned and delicious! Lomonico's in Pickerington, ahidden gem of sorts sandwiched between a sports bar and a pet shop in a strip mall. This place has a welcoming atmosphere, nice plating, reasonable pricing and delicious menu offerings! Prost Beer and Wine Cafe is located in Reynoldsburg inside an old fire house of sorts. This are selections from their Waffle nachos!
Masa-crusted waffle fries topped with smoked pulled pork, cheddar cheese, salsa, jalapenos, cilantro and sour cream. A brightly orange colored fungi city taking up residence on a fallen log. If you look further down the trunk you can see some suburban neighbors. A mural depicting the history of the city of Reynoldsburg. A fancy presentation of the charred Caesar salad, grilled Romaine lettuce, Parmesan, croutons, chives and lemon garlic dressing from Lomonico's in Pickerington. A hidden gem of sorts sandwiched between a sports bar and a pet shop in a strip mall. This place has a welcoming atmosphere, nice plating, reasonable pricing and delicious menu offerings! It looks like a unicorn pranced into Gigi's Cupcakes and farted springtime with all the bright oranges, yellows and greens of the Key Lime Pie, Lemon Dream Supreme and Orange Dreamsicle cupcakes! Fancy Grilled Cheese Donut!! Out of this freaking world!! This jam here is the Choco-Bacon Bliss. A glazed donut sliced in half and placed on the griddle forms the base of this sandwich. Then. it's filled with mozzarella, bacon, chocolate marscapone and pieces of a Hershey's chocolate bar! A pair of pies from Pie's. Up top is the mushroom pizza topped with, wait for it...an assortment of sliced mushrooms. Down below, is the Chicken Jalisco; topped with smoked chicken, roasted fresh poblano peppers, sweet corn, pico de gallo, fresh lime, and sour cream. Inside a crevice on a decaying nurse log, I found these tiny orange umbrella-like friends. The largest of which was no bigger than a thumb tack. Upon closer inspection of the underside of this basketball sized growth protruding out from a tree trunk, the texture looks like the baleen hair of the Blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus). A couple of turtles sunning themselves on Ashton Pond inside of Blacklick Woods metro Park. Savory beginnings and sweet endings at Pie's Gourmet Pizza Bistro. Roasted red pepper and goat cheese fried risotto balls with a bleu cheese fondue. Homemade brownie topped with homemade chocolate ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream and hot fudge.
