Not a typical La Quinta Inn in Columbus

Business trip to Columbus. I had no idea of city demographics, socio-economic makeup of cities infrastructure. Booked room within reasonable distance of target venue, The Midtown Medical Center campus - both hotel and venue on the same street. La Quinta Inn Columbus State University appeared to be in a fairly nice part of the city. Location is within close proximity of a mall and major artery for the city. But, something about this particular Inn and the Super 8 next door apparently attracts a far different group of guests than I had anticipated. Let's just say that I would not have been surprised to go into the parking lot and find either a drug deal going down or my car broken into. Inn itself is in poor shape compared to most La Quinta Inns (dirty, soiled carpets; dusky appearance to walls and ceilings; musky odors in hallways - a mix of mold, urine from either people or pets, cheap perfumes and bad potpourri covers), more like a bad Motel 6 or the Super 8 next door. I stayed only because I had already paid online. Typically, the first room I was given was unclean,, furniture in disarray, a stack of soiled towels and a ball of blue duck tape on the bathroom counter, human waste in the toilet, and wires unplugged from behind TV all over the floor. Certainly don't recommend this Inn for most business travelers. This is a "locals" facility, mostly one-night or by-the-hour clients I think.

I apologize that the first room you was given was in disarray. It sounds as if that was a terrible mistake and the room must have been out of order with the items that were found in the room. I understand you may be discouraged from staying with us again.
