Convenient to university but otherwise awful

Posted Apr 2, 2017
Checked in around 5pm and dropped off our bags before heading out to dinner. Came back from dinner and put kids to bed around 8pm. Around 9pm someone was repeatedly trying to open our door. Got out of bed and told them they had the wrong room. At 9:30 the hotel staff banged on the door loudly enough to wake my 2 and 4 yr old demanding that we were not allowed to be in the room. At this point I thought maybe we had made a mistake somehow so I grabbed the room keys and checked the room number. We were in the correct room. The very rude staff still demanded we needed to leave and wanted to know who had checked us in. I showed her our checkin info and she realized she had checked us in. Ridiculous. She left the room and we put kids back to bed. 10pm the front desk called and woke everyone up again. They wanted to see if we were still checked in. What?!?! Too this off with a smelly dirty room, literally with holes in the walls, and you can be sure we'll never make the mistake of staying at a la Quinta inn again.

Not a typical La Quinta Inn in Columbus

Posted Feb 26, 2017
Pros: Location. But, I had no idea about the cities infrastructure.
Cons: Short of a complete make-over, not much. It is what it is.
Location: There is a mall across a busy, limited access thoroughfare and an Applebee's down the street.
Business trip to Columbus. I had no idea of city demographics, socio-economic makeup of cities infrastructure. Booked room within reasonable distance of target venue, The Midtown Medical Center campus - both hotel and venue on the same street. La Quinta Inn Columbus State University appeared to be in a fairly nice part of the city. Location is within close proximity of a mall and major artery for the city. But, something about this particular Inn and the Super 8 next door apparently attracts a far different group of guests than I had anticipated. Let's just say that I would not have been surprised to go into the parking lot and find either a drug deal going down or my car broken into. Inn itself is in poor shape compared to most La Quinta Inns (dirty, soiled carpets; dusky appearance to walls and ceilings; musky odors in hallways - a mix of mold, urine from either people or pets, cheap perfumes and bad potpourri covers), more like a bad Motel 6 or the Super 8 next door. I stayed only because I had already paid online. Typically, the first room I was given was unclean,, furniture in disarray, a stack of soiled towels and a ball of blue duck tape on the bathroom counter, human waste in the toilet, and wires unplugged from behind TV all over the floor. Certainly don't recommend this Inn for most business travelers. This is a "locals" facility, mostly one-night or by-the-hour clients I think.

Hello, I apologize that the first room you was given was in disarray. It sounds as if that was a terrible mistake and the room must have been out of order with the items that were found in the room. I understand you may be discouraged from staying with us again. But, if you would give us another opportunity and when you do please call me personally and I will ensure you are able to see us in our best light and I will ensure your stay is more comfortable. We have business travelers with us all the time and they are repeat guest and love it. Please contact me so that I may make your next experience delightful. Thank you Michelle E. General Manager

Great staff, but maintenance issues

Posted Feb 5, 2017
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave great insight and were very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. The rooms were clean, just not maintained. There were gouges and scrapes in the walls and carpets, and the walls were not cleaned. The outside had several main text issues, but there were far less bugs than all the other hotels, and you can't beat such great service!!!

The key word Inn!

Posted Jan 25, 2017
It is what it is, I got to my room and it had a smell as if the carpet was wet before other then that the stay was pleasant could put more effort in putting some air freshener that's all I'm saying. If I plan on heading back to Columbus I would consider staying at La Quinta again.

Going downhill

La Quinta seems to be getting worse and worse. The quality of the facilities is definitely declining. I don't think I'll stay there again.

The hotel staff was very nice. Check in and out was quick. The rooms are very modern and were very clean(we have been some everywhere, seen some of everything before) . We picked La Quinta because it is pet friendly. The area is also in a great location

Bad experience, close to university

Posted Jan 16, 2017
I was offered and Promised 50% rate discount by front disk employee to compensate us for bad smoking smell going into our room and faulty bathroom equipment but at time to check out (Steven) the day time shift employee did not see any information noted on our bill and refused to give me the name of the other man. So unprofessional management

Cheap and Low quality

Posted Jan 16, 2017 on Hotels
It wasn't what I expected. The room was clean but the door was distressed and the lining around the door was not there. Therefore, you could see the hall for the bottom corner of the door. If someone wanted to, they could peep into the room from underneath the door. The toilet seat was worn and old. The tub contained rust stains. I have stayed at a LaQuinta Inn before and this one did not meet my expectations. However, if you are looking for a cheap low quality room, this is the place for you.
