I enjoyed my stay. My sister and I ( from different states) were placed in rooms next door to each other, and that was very convenient for us. Also, the desk attendants were very helpful. The continental breakfast was good. I shall stay at Howard Johnson's when I am again in Concord, NC.

Location between Interstate & train tracksPosted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: I tolerated it.
Cons: Thoroughly cleaning rooms to prevent health hazards. Provide a protein for breakfast. Ensure appliances are fixed. Replace worn/dingy towels.
Location: It was near gas and convenience stores. I don't remember restaurants nearby.
The hotel was right beside a currently operational railroad which I didn't know until one came roaring by so close to my hotel room because my room was located at the back of hotel. The room was not cleaned very well. The toilet had a ring around it which tells me housekeeping does not give full attention to disinfecting & cleaning all the surfaces. There was a 2 liter soda bottle left in the fridge. There should be management to check the rooms and ensure they are cleaned thoroughly & if not have housekeeping come back & clean what they missed. The tv did not work. The front desk clerk did come to try and fix it and apologized because he couldn't. He told me the room was rented out the night before and the tv did work. I could not get a discount because I purchased through Expedia. The breakfast selection offered cereals, toast, bagels, donuts, muffins and fruit juices. Donuts were stale, however.

It's a "no-go."Posted Jul 6, 2015 on Hotels
My hanging towel had a long dark hair wrapped in it. When I moved the hand towel from the back of the toilet an any ran out from underneath. The non-smoking room smelled like smoke. A hinge-cap was missing from the back of the toilet. There was lots of "wear and tear" on the front door and baseboards. Hotels.com said there would be a microwave in my room, but there was not. The room reference materials were of poor quality. It actually was the second worst hotel I have stayed in my entire life. The only redeeming quality was excellent, quality service by the manager/front desk staff. Check in and out was fast and efficient too.
