"Pleasant overnight stay"
We had a very pleasant overnight stay at Buttermilk Lodge. It's a 10 minute walk from Clifden's main street and there are plenty restaurant options to choose from. The breakfast at Buttermilk Lodge was excellent with a number of options to choose from including Full Irish Breakfast, Pancakes, and Salmon and Scrambled Eggs, as will as Continental Breakfast options. The room was a good size with considerate amenities (including a sewing kit) and it was very clean and homely.

"Great B&B on the water in a beautiful place"
Wonderful location n the water with ability to walk to the water - not a sandy beach but beautiful. Helpful owners and great breakfast. It is out of town but the drive to a few pubs with good food is not far.

"Quintessential Irish Hospitality"
From our window we could look out over stone walls to the Atlantic Ocean. The food and the graciousness of the staff were better than 5 star. There is much ruggedly beautiful scenery in the area. The other guests were interesting and friendly.

"Great staff"
What a relaxing stay! Even nasty Irish winter weather couldn't put a damper on our stay. We were greeted by roaring fires in fireplaces throughout to help warm us up after coming in from the cold! Very friendly staff and wonderful rustic rooms. We had an excellent dinner and it was so nice that, at the end of the meal, there was not check; they simply put it on the room tab, so we simply stood up and retired to the next room for a very long family game night. Late in the evening, one of my daughters inquired at the desk about booking an activity for my other daughter as a surprise for the next day. The host at the desk said she'd check and let her know. The next day, the host found me at breakfast and handed me a folded note saying the activity was booked for us. So nice and personal! This place really makes you feel like you're in a really cool bed and breakfast. I'm already trying to figure out how to get back there!

"old School Charm"
This is a grand old hotel that speaks clearly of a time past. The building is beautiful , with dark wood and marble and many windows. Check in was quick and efficient as well as friendly and inviting. Our rooms (we travelled as a family of 7 and needed 3 rooms) had wonderful views. The rooms were comfy and the baths had heated towel racks. Now, I have read some negative reviews that noted rusty water from the pipes. My reply is that it harms nothing and there is no charge for the mineral bath! The breakfasts were replete with good food and the bar was stocked with some great whiskey. The barman and all the staff were friendly and helpful. One can enjoy a great stroll around the grounds or by the beach. Come stay here and you will feel like royalty. Nearby is Kylemore Abbey, a magical side trip. You can also have a slow drive through the local countryside and enjoy dinner at the nearby Bard's Den. Here is the bottom line. Want a slick place with modern furniture, blended cocktails and au currant entertainment? Go elsewhere . . .maybe a different country. want to live a refined, upscale, relaxed few days - try Renvyle House.

"Decent hostel, beautiful location."
Pretty good as far as hostels go - I would certainly recommend that you stay in Letterfrack! The room was simply, but adequately, furnished, the shower was nice and warm and the beds comfortable. The shared living room had good views and good cooking facilities.

"Clifden, Ireland B&B"
I stayed at Sharamore for one night (26 Oct, 2015) and was pleased with my choice. The room was very cozy with comfortable king bed, wardrobe, a couple of chairs, and ensuite bath with shower. From my room I had a nice view to the water (with sunset!) and up a hill to a pasture where a couple of horses were grazing. The place was super quiet, so I had a great sleep. It was also very clean. The breakfast choices were phenomenal, but since I'm not a big breakfast eater, I stuck to the wonderful homemade bread, fresh fruit, and tea. On the menu was fresh fish, smoked salmon, full Irish, eggs Benedict (I think with the smoked salmon), pancakes, and lots of other choices. If you're a breakfast lover, you will not want to miss this - everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked delicious, and I heard no complaints around me! Sharamore is located just beyond one end of the Sky Road, a spectacular drive that towers above the water and has amazing views. It's also close to the town of Clifden (about a 10 min drive), which is large enough to have a gas station, bank (for which I had great need), and plenty of good places to eat. My host suggested Guy's Bar, and it was a great recommendation. This B&B is also fairly near the Connemara national park. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Sharamore. It's off the beaten path, but convenient to the park and a town that should have something for everyone.

Home to rugged mountain peaks, a multitude of lakes, and sandy beaches, Connemara is the name given to the western portion of County Galway, which lies between the Lough Corrib and the Atlantic, and is not always marked on maps.
