comfort in a beautiful setting

Posted Sep 13, 2016
Pros: Setting, comfort of rooms, general ambience.
Cons: Newer tv's might be a good idea.
Location: Baseball Hall ofFame is what called me, but Cooperstown and area are beautiful and there are museums, wonderful architecture and other activities that
This isn't a posh motel full of the latest amenities, but it is comfortable, clean and located in a beautiful place. It took me back to road trips of yore, before there were cookie cutter chains mostly located along freeways (or in the eastern USA not so free) all with the same look and feel. The design is smart and well maintained and the staff welcoming and helpful. Can recommend to travellers and would stay there again in a New York minute.

Pros: staff, location, lake, the room and the setting

Nice small place with 36 units.

Posted Aug 26, 2016
Pros: Cleanliness and location.
Location: 5 minutes from Cooperstown nothing else to say.
Over looks Otsego Lake, which is a beautiful glacier formed lake. There is a small dock with chairs that you can sit on and enjoy the view. We were there for the little league baseball and to tour the town, so we spent very little time there. Our view from our second floor room was beautiful. Staff was friendly and helped us with any questions we had including .where to eat breakfast. Price was way more reasonable than a lot of other places I researched. It is quite and peaceful and nostalgic.

Great Motel with lake access.

Posted Aug 18, 2016
Location: Easy drive (10 minutes) to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, OR get on the Trolley. Golf Course, Farmer's Museum, Art Center nearby.
Great property with a nice view of Otsego Lake. Part of the property is across the road and there is access to the lake. there's a small beach, a swim area and docks where you can fish, have a meal on the picnic table and jump in a paddle boat if you wish.

Suitable for our needs

Posted Aug 1, 2016
Pros: Our room was clean and quiet. The staff was polite and helpful.
Cons: Some people might prefer more amenities.
Location: The motel is about 5 miles outside of Cooperstown and 4 from the Glimmerglass theater. No place to eat closer than town.
We needed a clean, convenient place for two nights while attending performances at Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, NY. Lake View Motel served the purpose.

It all depends on your expectations

Posted Aug 1, 2016
Pros: The setting by the lake.
Cons: I've already mentioned the issues above.
Location: Cooperstown is a beautiful old village. We went to the opera at Glimmerglass, which was wonderful. We did not go to the Hall of Fame; did so as kids.
This motel is in a very nice spot across Rte. 80 from Lake Otsego. Very few of the rooms have a view of the lake, so the name is a bit misleading. They do have property on the lake side of the road, with swimming facilities. The motel itself is very 1940s (*I* am very 1940s, so I feel well qualified). You have to like Formica and Linoleum. If you don't mind that old-fashioned look, you won't be disappointed. We found the beds quite comfortable, but our room was close to the road; it was a bit too noisy for us. There are rooms further away from the road that I'm sure would not have that problem. The shower was like standing under a leaky garden hose dripping warm water. The wifi was close to unusable; very in and out (I tried both with a laptop and a phone). Both issues were reported to them; they did note them and I think they will be dealt with, at least with respect to the room we were in. The people I dealt with in the office were very nice. If you are not looking for anything fancy, then I'm sure this would be fine.

Room was clean and scenery was beautiful. Shower was a bit small and it was a little way from restaurants.

A great spot when visiting the baseball hall of fame. Only wish it was a little warmer to swim in the lake after a day at the museum.
