What use to be a nice Hotel in decline

When we arrived we were told that we had been "upgraded ". Here is what "'upgraded " meant: Up the stairs ( with lugage, no elevator.Had to go through what seemed to be an endless maze. finally arrived at our " Upgraded " room just as ordinary as any other room. We had no idea where we were in the hotel or how to find our way back to the lobby. We are senior citizens ! Since my husband has no sense of direction this was a disaster, so we asked for a room in the vicinity of an elevator and the main part of the hotel. Our new room was so small that you couldn't stand up straight on one side of the bed. It was under the eaves. I managed to bang my head. So here is this hotel that we have stayed at every year for 35 years. the ultimate insult was the $ 50 breakfast. It use to be included in the room charge. You would expect to pay this at a luxury hotel. This is not a luxury Hotel. So it is time for this Danish /american family to move on to another hotel next year when we come to Denmark. So much for loyal guests !

Location only

The hotel rate for me only 3 stars, some staff not friendly neither helpful. Room condition is bad, mould smell, carpet full of spots and maks.,cold, no tea or coffee, just mini kettle to boil water! Pillows aren't comfortable. Small elevator to fit only 6 people without bags! Noone helping in moving bags. Last day electricity was cut off for 1 hr. Not pleasant stay.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that the stay wasn't as you expected. Unfortunately we don't have coffee and tea facilities in all the rooms but this is available 24 hours free of charge from the machines in the restaurant. I know that the lifts are not that big but we do have piccolo service. You are right that the power was cut off for a little while this was due to maintenance and is luckily nothing we have to do often. Despite of the issues i hope you will consider staying with us in the future. Best regards.

Charming hotel with a few challenges

The room was very nice (except the below comment) and staff were great! Location ideal. The bad news was the mold in the bathroom (maybe it's hard to clean the high ceilings?) and the very saggy/soft bed.

Conveniently located

Very close to the city centre(10 min walk) and main rail station the hotel is conveniently located, clean an has a very interesting reception area. Staff were friendly and helpful and rooms are clean, comfortable and no real problems with noise. Nice hotel, will stay again!

Good location but dirty and terrible facilities

As soon as we got the key to our room and opened the door it was like we got slapped in the face with a urine smell. When we removed the thin mattress on the bed as it was too soft, to our disgust and surprise there was a massive urine stain on the mattress which they had just thrown some sheets over. When we informed hotel staff all we got was a promise that they would inform the cleaners to be thorough with their cleaning next time, no apologies or anything..

Central location

Pros: central location
Great location. Small room with cramped bathroom but perhaps that's to be expected for Europe and the price. Used their self-service laundry and wouldn't do that again. Would find a Laundromat. Rooms on the main street are noisy with morning delivery and garbage trucks.

Avoid unless you're really, really desperate.

Hot, humid, noisy, broken appliances, WiFi that didn't work unless you step out into the stairwell, rude front desk. I suppose no AC is to be expected in Scandinavia, even in the middle of a heat wave, but at least the fan they provided could've worked. I'd have asked for another one, but after the attitude I got from the front desk for requesting a non-broken hair dryer, I decided not to bother. Hotel is on a noisy street, so you could either close the window and boil in the heat or leave it open and not sleep. Avoid this hotel unless you're really, really desperate for a room.
