Good spot to explore from

Quirky hotel with interesting touches. Rooms are small but adequate but bathrooms could have some better facilities- better showers. Value for money.

Special place for design appreciation

Posted Feb 22, 2017
Pros: Cleaning "credit" can be used in the hotel restaurant.
As everybody says this hotel is known for the Danish design furnishings. Recommended for design buffs. The room was comfortable and charming. It's situated few minutes walk from the central train station (easy to catch a train to Louisiana Museum) and on the edge of the old town. It's easily possible to walk to any central tourist attractions from there. Also close to Tivoli (closed in February!) Some great restaurants are nearby (Vakst). The breakfast was great, the in-house Vietnamese restaurant as an option for dinner was just okay, but the price was great. The lobby staff is unfailingly helpful and lovely.

Beautiful hotel, perfectly located

Posted Feb 17, 2017
Would definitely come back to Hotel Alexandra. The hotel is perfectly located, within walking distance of all major sites, and despite being on the main road, you weren't disturbed by the traffic in your room. The hotel and rooms were furnished in a great style and still felt homely. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A great stay.

Location of the hotel is the major attraction

Posted Feb 3, 2017
Good location, very closed to train station, this means that you can go to the airport very easily by train. It's a traditional hotel, a normal key to open the room instead of a card. There's no mini bar in the room, nor complimentary drinking water. If you want to stay in a room with city view you have to pay an extra charge. Also in the check in they will ask you to give them insurance of 300 KR, although there's no mini bar in the room.

Friendly and comfortable

Excellent location close to the centre and station. The staff were very approachable and were particularly kind and helpful when we unfortunately got food poisoning (not at the hotel!). The hotel has brilliant retro 1960s decor, and the room was very comfortable and quiet. Would definitely recommend it.

Christmas at Tivioli Gardens 🎄🎄🎄

Posted Dec 27, 2016
Pros: Soundproof room, comfortable bed, nice breakfast.
I chose the hotel because of its location which were FANTASTIC! The bed was very comfortable. The room really was sound proof! The amenities were pretty basic and just as were described. This hotel gets commendation for cleanliness and location! Tivioli gardens were 1.5 blocks away, some nice shopping was about 10 minutes away, Ripleys was close by that had a part dedicated to Hans Christian Anderson. As I said great location!

Good location

Posted Dec 22, 2016
Airline company lost my luggage. Some staff was pricing their toothbrush and tooth paste at DKK 25. Some are very friendly and helpful, took down details and gave us good news when luggage was back. Shower space is tiny. Room is nicely furnitured. Bed is comfortable. The overall experience is still great.

Very good central location

Posted Nov 22, 2016
Pros: Very close to Central Railway Station, Tivoli and Radhus. Majority of tourist sights and activities are within walking distance.
Cons: Hotel is on the busy HC Andersen Boulevard and can suffer from traffic noise, ambulances and police sirens Get a room at rear if possible
Location: Main railway station is a 5 minute walk. Tivoli and Radhus are very close and the main shopping area is only a short walk.
Stayed here for 3 nights from 14th November. From the airport get the train to the central station 36DKK per person, which takes 15 min. Turn left outside the station and go to the lights, turn right go to the next lights and turn left. Walk 200m and the hotel is easy to find on the left. From the hotel the Tivoli is 200m or so and the Radhus on the opposite side of the road to the Tivoli. Walking into the main shopping area and most of the sights and tourist attractions is very easy. The local tourist map ( pick up from the hotel or information centre) is very good for finding your way around. If you fancy the Carlsberg brewery, there is a free bus from the side of the tourist information centre (Just round the corner from The Alexandra Hotel) which also drops off at the Zoo. If you do nothing else, go to the Amalienborg Slot and see the changing of the guard, very entertaining. From there to the Little Mermaid and then back to Papiroen and the street food market. Well worth seeing and the food is pretty good too. For a Danish breakfast visit the Andersen Bakery opposite the railway station next to Limb. The food and the coffee are wonderful. To be fair wherever you eat or drink is good if a little more expensive than England.

Stay was fine. Hotel is okay. Nothing too special. Overpriced for what you get.
