Good hotel close to sky train station.

Posted Jul 27, 2016
Pros: The hotel is clean and well maintained.
Cons: The management could include free breakfast. There is a restaurant within the hotel but other than that there are no cafes nearby to choose from.
Location: Close to highway 1. Although it is still far from Vancouver downtown. There is a sky train station nearby which I would recommend to avoid traffic.
We were looking for hotels around the Burnaby and/or Richmond areas for an extended stay but most of them if not fully booked, were very expensive. We found this hotel around Coquitlam with a good price which was only 8 kms. away from Burnaby. We were also traveling to Nanaimo and Victoria the next day so this would be a preferred location going to the Horseshoe Bay ferry. We did not have time to explore the city around the hotel as we spent most of our time in Vancouver. The hotel rooms were nice and clean which gave us a very good sleep.Just an added info anyway, if you happen to get a room on the second floor, there are no elevators. So skip on the heavy luggage if you have one.

Inconsiderate staff.

Posted Jul 25, 2016
Cons: Sensitivity training for the staff and restaurant workers.
I am not sure if it was hotel staff or the Char 631 restaurant staff specifically, but there was a group of young men directly outside the back door of my room who were talking very loudly at 10:30pm when I was trying to get to sleep. I had to open my door and comment to them because they seemed to have no common sense of consideration of others around them and the specific time of day it was. Just over an hour later another couple of young men exited the building just outside my door and carried on a loud conversation as well which again forced me to get out of bed, open my door, and tell them that people were trying to sleep. There was also some sort of large emergency exit kind of door in a hallway bordering one wall of my room which closed very loudly when staff passed through, and again, even at the late hour no one seemed to consider closing it gently to lessen the impact noise. The room's fan/air conditioning was older and made a horrible clanking/banging sound when it engaged which disturbed sleep too so I had to turn it off and hope the room didn't get too uncomfortable.

My car got a scraped door as parking is very tight. The highway noise was not blocked out by the windows.

It is a real 2.5 star hotel. Rooms facilities are old and not clean as you may think to be in Vancouver!

Older hotel, recently renovated. Clean. Problems with room key cards. Easy check in and check out. Quiet even though fully booked.

You get what you paid for

Posted Jul 7, 2016
Pros: In the middle of Surrey & Vancouver (20min drive each way)
Cons: Cleanliness
Location: McDonalds... that's the best it gets
This hotel was very cheap & does it's purpose. It's set up like a motel, so if you are looking to find a cheap place to just sleep at... this is the place.

Nice pool but not overly clean

Posted Jul 7, 2016
Pros: Heated pool!
Cons: Stain free bedding and better job at clearing old garbage.
Location: Great location, near ikea, lots of neat restaurants and right on a main road ... Possibilities are endless with this location :)
At first glance it was perfect..smelled overly clean, looked nice.. Decent room. Very disappointed with the advertised hot tub not in working condition. The pool was awesome, very clean and heated! Kids loved it. In the morning while lifting everything to find all the kids things found alcohol lids under our bed and stains on the bedding.. Not impressed but we survived and enjoyed it otherwise.

The air conditioner did not work. The room was tidy but still dirty when we arrived. The bathroom plugin did not work. The pool was small and loud with fans. The location was good and convenient but the hotel was bad.

Pros: Reasonable price, quiet, comfortable bed
Location: Easy to find and a short drive to all the ammenities
The selection of hotels and motels in the area is quite limited so this was the most reasonably priced option. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Access to the room was good.
