Birthday request

Posted Jan 14, 2018
Organised a cheesecake from the menu to use as a bday cake for my husband’s bday with Asanaci Takali restaurant in advance. She forgot all about it and we walked out without my husband having a cake on his bday. She didn’t seem to care when approached. Is it because we are Indians?

The Fijian

Posted Jan 13, 2018
This stay was a bit disappointing as we had to wait for extra 2 hrs before we got checked in. The first room allocated was like a a room in the dungeons and got moved to the requested room after 5pm ( check in is at 2pm). Other people who came after us got checked in before us. Front desk experience was not good as they need to be more efficient and do not give a welcoming impression. Air con did not work in 2 rooms we booked on the last 2 days and was very hot (29 deg in room) and uncomfortable. On check out, it took the bell service 45min to get our bags. On the good side, the sea and pool area was great. Nice to sit in the sea with small fish and pool which was very warm. The beach and bar grill and adult breakfast was great including the staff. The food at Takali restaurant was great but the the staff were shocking and grumpy. Except the chief who was great. Our best compliment is to our room maid ( Chocalatta) who actually made us smile every day and was very creative in making both rooms (see photo). Unfortunately, I will not be going to this hotel for a while plus it’s still under renovation as some of the rooms are quite old and out of date compared to the rest of the hotels.

Not 5 star more like 3

Posted Jan 13, 2018
Sheets were stained in multiple rooms. Mould on furniture and on ceilings in multiple rooms. Rooms and aircon smelled mouldy. Rooms do not reflect images on website. Service at restaurants are extremely slow. Some staff look like they are not happy to be there while others are very lovely and friendly. We were not advised that the resort is currently undergoing renovations. Therefore only 3 restaurants were open. Prices are same as Australia.

Great resort but very pricey!

Posted Jan 11, 2018
The resort is beautiful with great facilities, especially for kids (amazing pools, activities for kids, water park, kayaking, SUPB etc). Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was great. The prices of extras at the resort are prohibitive though - I feel the resort is over-priced (because it is on an island, there are little if any other options around and the resort takes advantage of that). Aside from the fact that the resort is expensive, there are additional fees/charges added to any bill (ie taxes, extra 2 or 3% added for paying by credit card, and then to top it off, the resort takes another hit by imposing an uncompetitive exchange rate).

Cons: Service and table booking policy.
Had a great time. Fantastic for the kids. The kids club was a little old. But it was nice to see them not playing computers all day!

Bula, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at our resort. It is wonderful to know that yourself and the kids enjoyed your time in Fiji. Seeing the kids enjoy the Fijian outdoors is always wonderful! We hope to welcome you back again in the near future.

The resort is located in an island that near the main island. Very beautiful water and every room has the balcony with good view. We saw sunset every night. The resort is quite big and need some walk around. Except the Italian restaurant that they just upgraded, all the other restaurants are so rundown. The only thing that didn't enjoy was the staff there. Majority of them are so cold and slow. The service and people are not Fiji at all. Compare with other two resorts we stayed in Fiji, the service level of Shangri-La is the lowest which is kind surprise to me. I mean, it is that big name with reputation....

Bula, I am extremely disappointed to hear we failed to deliver true Fijian hospitality during your recent stay. We genuinely pride ourselves on a big "Bula Spirit" and widely get great feedback to this. I will share your feedback to the team and we will ensure that as a team we address this immediately. I am glad you enjoyed our beautiful island and we do hope to welcome you back to Yanuca Island again in the future.

Honeymoon in Fiji

Posted Jan 6, 2018
Overall a really good experience. Resort activities were great. Lots of dining options. All the staff were super friendly and helpful, there were several stand outs that were amazing!! General cleanliness of the room could have been better, we were in the Golden Cowrie wing which had amazing sunset views however is the part yet to be remodeled I would guess. Food was good but the service standards in the restaurants does need a bit of polish as we had our meal forgotten once and order incorrect another time, not major things and they were sorted quickly and with a smile. Would definitely go back, overall experience was excellent.

Bula Nadine, I am thrilled to know that you enjoyed our beautiful Fijian sunsets from the Golden Cowrie wing! We are looking to refurbish that wing soon so when you return it will be even better! Please allow me to apologize about the confusion with your meals and I will share this with our Food and beverage team to take on board. We do hope to welcome you back again soon and until then all the best for 2018.

Shangri-La Fijian Resort

Posted Dec 31, 2017
Pros: Location, water sports
Staying for a wedding, setting and location was amazing, however the some of the facilities were still being renovated, which meant restaurants venues were limited. The Fijians pride themselves on being friendly people however some of the staff were less than helpful.

Bula Nerissa, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent stay experience with us. We certainly do have a beautiful island to call home and are constantly working to make it better. Our renovations have received very positive feedback with our Lagoon view rooms almost completely refurbished. We do currently have our all day dining restaurant under renovation until June but the response to our newly opened Golden Cowrie Restaurant and adjoining Lounge has been outstanding. I will be sure to share your feedback with the team and apologize if some of our team did not share the "Bula sprit" with you as it is certainly something we pride ourselves on. We truly hope to welcome you back to Shangri-La's Fijian Resort and Spa again in the future and thank you again for sharing your experience.

Lovely location

Posted Dec 6, 2017
Resort is lovely although renovations were taking place while we were there. Staff are the best thing about the resort so friendly and helpful! Food and drinks very expensive best to go out of the resort and meet the locals! Management not good very disappointed as we had issues when we arrived with our room - take too long to sort out and disappointed with outcome.overall the resort is a lovely place but would do things a little differently if I went back
