Good hotel near embassy

Good hotel overall and real close (walking distance) to the US embassy. Definitely better than other non-chain hotels near the embassy. Nice enough facilities and comfortable rooms. Free breakfast is mediocre but sufficient. Several restaurants are right out the back door so very convenient. And the Gran Estación mall is a 12,000 peso ($4.50 USD) Uber ride away. Best choice for when in bogota and need either a decent hotel for a layover or have an appointment at he embassy.

Excelent service

My mother and grandmother were so happy during the five days they were there. The staff in the reception and at the door were so kind. Thank you very much in special to Monica in the reception

Nice Hotel but Management not Trustworthy

Cons: Be transparent about your charges. Respect your customers.
I rarely write negative reviews but feel compelled in this case. I recently made a prepaid Expedia reservation for two nights at TRYP Embajada for a university student who was going to Bogota for a visa interview at the US Embassy. Because the student does not have a credit card I wrote (in Spanish) to customer service at the hotel to make sure there would not be a problem when he checked in. I received a response two days later saying that since the stay had been prepaid on Expedia there would not be a problem but any expenses at the hotel such as Minibar or restaurant would have to be paid in cash. No mention of VAT or other fees that would have to be paid at check in. When the student arrived he was charged "taxes and fees" in excess of 50% of the amount paid for the room itself. Since VAT is 19% and the other fee was nominal, i inquired about the charges. I was told that it clearly states on Expedia these fees were not included. The student asked for a receipt at checkout and was told that was not available since the room was paid on Expedia. I requested a receipt from customer service and was told the same. I then explicitly asked for a statement of the fees paid at checkin and received no response. Shame on TRYP for taking advantage of a student!

Great hotel to stay

Is far away from night life, but got excellent facilities. It was clean, the staff was kind and helpful, the breakfast was great. In the first floor you will find a lot of restaurants and cafes and it is near a mall called gran estación.
