Great location, poor quality

Posted Sep 29, 2016
Pros: The location on the headland at Kanoni Beach was excellent. The views to the South of the island and across to mainland Greece were outstanding.
Cons: The rooms need a complete makeover; the pool and surrounding areas need to be brought up to date; the gardens need improving to increase the sea views
Location: Great location on the headland, but little to do in the immediate vicinity. Bus journeys to Corfu Town take around 20 minutes (a shuttle bus from the
The hotel has the facilities of a 5 star hotel but many are of poor quality. The bedrooms need a makeover, the furniture looks as if it has been there since the 1970s. There is no information in the rooms, either about the hotel or things to do in the locality. The bathroom towels, although changed daily were rather thin and small. There was a water leak in the bathroom that went unrepaired despite reporting it twice. The outdoor pool and surrounding area are adequate but of fairly bland design, the indoor pool and gym pathetic. The food was O.K. but the dining room was cramped and often overcrowded. It is unacceptable in this age for a 5 star hotel to charge for internet access in the bedrooms, it was free in public areas, and also unacceptable to charge guests for use of sunbeds/umbrellas on the beach, or the gravel patch that passes for the beach.

Dear Dave, Thank you for sellecting Corfu Holiday Palace Hotel for your accomodation. We are happy to read your kind words towards hotel's "excellent, great location" and that you have enjoyed the food and the 'adequate" outdoor pool area and surroundings. In addition to hotel’s renovation, please be informed that Corfu Holiday Palace has a classic yet natural décor and is under rotating renovation plan. We are renovating partly section by section on yearly basis and many rooms have been already fully refurbished. We have noted all your comments and we would like to reassure you that we always do our best in order to exceed our guests’ expectations and we are extremely disappointed when we do not succeed and guests leave feeling differently. Maggot in cereal but overall a great hotel

Posted Sep 15, 2016
Stayed for 1 night and the bed was extremely comfy. However, the pillows are very firm and tall. Good facilities such as the elevator to the private beach. The lobby is grand and impressive. However, experience was soured with an uninvited guest in our cereal.

Summer Break

Posted Sep 14, 2016
Upgraded to bungalow at no extra cost, lovely room and superb views, although whoever bought the beds needs to reassess comfort.. way to hard!. Breakfast was OK but surprised at lack fresh fruit.. all tinned.. Thought dinner was expensive and limited, lots of good restaurants south on the coast within 30 minute drive.. sardines and prawns to die for.. pool was OK if a little salty better to use the funicular railway down to the beach.. close to airport but really not an issue, any noise is over so quick and not that many planes..good hotel and generally good value, would recommend.

Excellent location, close to airport and town

Posted Sep 5, 2016
Beautiful views of the sea, mouse island and monastery. Good food and comfortable rooms. Cosy beach with two restraunts. Spa facilities quite disappointing. No jaccuzzi and the sauna/hamam not worth €10, free if you have treatments which were great. Exciting to see planes so close but noise is not an issue.

Certainly not a 5 star hotel but amazing views

Posted Sep 4, 2016
The hotel is no way 5 star, it's very tired and in need of a lot of TLC but our delux bungalow was the complete opposite. It had breath taking views and the largest terrace. It was also new and of a very high standard. The hotel pool is salt water. The beach was small but great and very family friendly.

Like a time warp

Posted Aug 25, 2016 on Hotels
Our room was not as described- we booked a room that specified it had 2 double bedrooms, and as we were travelling as friends this was why we had booked it. Actually it was one bedroom and a sitting room, with sofa which did could not be turned into a proper bed for an adult despite requests when we arrived. I feel we were misinformed by description of this room. Secondly the hotel is in a very very poor state of repair in communal areas, e.g. showers and changing room off hotel pool the worst I have ever seen in any hotel (of any rating). Carpets very dirty in communal areas, limited facilities and general state of decline of a place one grand in its hey day. There are parts of this hotel that look like they haven't been renovated or cleaned since maybe 1969. Our first stay and absolutely our last.

Acceptable but definitely not 5*

Posted Aug 22, 2016
Reception staff very helpful and efficient so good first impressions. Room was lovely; we were allocated one of the bungalow rooms which was spacious and had a very pretty view. Water and bottle of wine also in the room. Pillows super comfy as was the bed. Fresh towels each day and fresh sheets every 3 days. Breakfast was great and would recommend the buffet dinner for the evening. Plenty of choice and great quality for €18pp. There are a few things that did let the hotel down: - the service at breakfast was slow. Eg bringing coffee. - there aren't enough sun beds around the pool to accommodate all the guests so was a bit of a stress each morning. - to use the beds at the beach there was an extra charge! - the wifi in the rooms was as an additional charge! - wifi in public areas of the hotel is free but not very reliable and is very slow. - using the safe in the room was an extra charge (this is what annoyed me the most. Not great for a "5*") -the staff at the pool and the pool bar are very rushed off their feet and this was easily noticeable in their behaviour -not great. - there is a 30 min rule on the sun beds - if you're not there for that time the staff move your things! This would not be an issue if there were a more organised system for allocating beds and if there were enough of them!

We were placed in one of the newly renovated bungalows - really spacious and nicely decorated, great balconies and very quiet (apart from airport noises).
