Tiny, overpriced and somewhat deceptive.

Pros: The food, the view
Cons: Wifi, customer service, access points to the hotel and better directions
Location: Difficult to find using sat nav. Not a lot of things to do in St Ives if you're not into fishing or watching seals. There is no 3G service!
The views were stunning, overlooking the seaside. The room was tiny, not what we expected or led to believe. The bathroom was so tiny, I couldn't comfortably get dressed (or undressed) with the door closed. While advertising the room had wifi - I had to sit half way down the stairwell, (or down in reception) to surf the web, respond to emails or simply make a skype call. In general, the St Ives area had poor cell 3G service - relying on adequate wifi was foolish of me at this hotel. I found the staff not always accommodating in relation to the wifi problems. On a positive, the restaurant food was some of the best a la carte food I have tasted - well presented, cooked to perfection. Had our holiday meant we stayed in the dining room the entire time, we would have been happy - however we found that this hotel was significantly overpriced for what we received - definitely not value for money.

Good holiday hotel let down by local taxi service.

Posted Jun 10, 2012
Pros: Staff and food
Cons: Location
Location: Great views and close to town, but up a very steep hill and then steps from the road to the hotel. A hotel for mountaineers, not the ufit or elderly
For a holiday hotel in a popular and busy seaside resort this hotel was surprisingly good. It was clean and tidy and well maintained. The staff were excelent and the food skilfuly prepared. The room was quite small, but you dont go to St Ives to stay in your room. The only downside is the location. It is situated just outside the centre of the town, but up a very, very steep and twisty hill and then, if you are on foot (and you dont take cars into the cetre of St Ives), up some even steeper steps from the road - you need to be very fit. What makes this a little worse is that even if the weather is bad the local taxis have no dificulty telling you that they are not interested in such a short distance fare.

Awful experience

Posted May 14, 2012
The girl at the reception was very rude and made no efforts to put us in a single bed room. The bed sheets was very stinky, the shower drain was blocked, no Internet in the room. At breakfast I was put in a very dark and untidy room.

Wonderful views of St Ives

Pros: Fantastic position, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff.
The hotel is excellently placed, less than 5 minutes from the beach, but down a very steep path. The views from the hotel are wonderful, cross your fingers for a seaview! Our room was small but very comfortable. The bathroom was tiny, it looked as though it was in a cupboard, but was perfectly functional. There was a good choice and variety of food for breakfast. The staff are charming and extremely helpful. The only downside is that the internet is erratic. This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel and will certainly do so again.

Will stay again

Pros: Cosy and quiet
Cons: Needs duster in some places
Location: Quite steep hill to climb, but where don't you in cornwall
Well, the staff was awsome very pleasant and helpful. The bistro bar could have done with a duster around the corners and windows. Wouldnt advise older people to stay there if they have no car, quite steep hill to climb to get into hotel. Room was nice and clean, beds looked bigger in hotel pictures, but otherwise brill.
