Nice character hotel

Nice. Lovely walk through garden into St Ives. Spacious room However while I spent the money on Expedia for a sea view room I was told that was no guarantee and got non sea view at first. After questioned we were offered sea view.

room cleanliness and benchmarking not the best. I was impressed with quick response to my complaint about a problem with the television.

Great for a week away, could be pricey for some

Posted Sep 10, 2016
Pros: The surroundings, the seclusion and the fact that with the amenities that are there you could stay at the hotel all week and still have loads to do.
Cons: Wi-Fi, This is a big problem, I was in room 1 and the Wi-Fi was non-existent. I had to sit in the lobby area to get Wi-Fi
Location: St Ives has good night life and trips to seal Island or fishing, Pubs not too far out if you want to drive, Supermarket almost next door.
The hotel is a fantastic hotel, great surroundings, access to St. Ives is by two methods, driving; but very hard to park when you get there or take the walk, about 15minutes for a young fit person. Hills are very steep, but there are frequent stop points. Illuminated after dark but could do with a little more light. The hotel staff were excellent could not do enough, the food also excellent. The breakfast is full English, cereal, or continental. All self service. the evening meal and drinks are from a menu. However some of the prices are quite steep, like the surrounding hills. The hotel offers Wi-Fi, however it does not reach all of the rooms and so you have to sit in the Lobby to make a skype call or check your emails. All in all a very pleasant stay. I would go back.

Es ist ein tolles Haus das seine besten Zeiten aber schon lange hinter sich hat. Gerade die sanitären Anlagen gehören von Grund auf saniert.

VERY DISAPPOINTING AND EXPENSIVE

Posted Aug 18, 2016
Pros: The hotel grounds were lovely.
Cons: Rooms should be refurbished and updated.
Location: Beautiful location and St Ives is stunning
Well where do I start, my husband and I stayed in room 88 we were amazed to see that the window glass had white peeling paint probably to stop guests from looking out at the unsightly air ducts. The same windows rattled in the wind and we ended up having to stuff tissue paper between the frames just to try and get a nights sleep, although this was impossible due to the temperature of the room. I felt as though the room was more like a prison cell not a comfortable retreat which was advertised. We honestly believe that the price we paid for this room is not justified in any way.

Terrific looking hotel close to St Ives.

Posted Jul 26, 2016
Pros: The food is of a very high standard, it's rare to have a meal every night and find each dinner a joy to eat, the battered fish and chips is fantastic.
Cons: Continental breakfast was a little disappointing, it was fruits and croissants and could have been so much better..
Location: On the main road between Carbis Bay & St Ives access is easy and public transport is available outside the main hotel grounds entrance
Arrived and were impressed by the outside instantly, the hotel standing on a hill overlooking St Ives. Entry was through the lobby which gives an instant feeling of a well kept and maintained hotel, reception/check in was easy our details already printed and although the room was not quite ready as we were early it was was available a few minutes later. The room was clean and well presented, needed an airing as it was so warm and the window was closed, a polite notice to say please do not leave the window open as seagulls enter the rooms, this was a minor woe and after an hour of a warm breeze through the room had a wonderful feel. Although it was a little small and a slightly loose shower fitting again a minor thing, the bed was comfortable and for a person who finds sleeping in a hotel a struggle this was a very pleasant surprise. The staff are the hotels greatest asset, attentive and nothing was too much trouble, from the room cleaners to the reception and the staff in the Brasserie, all help to give this hotel a wonderful ambiance.

One night minimoon!!!

Posted Jul 23, 2016
We stayed for one night after our wedding to have a quick getaway as the honeymoon is some time away! The grounds are magnificent and immaculately kept. The staff were welcoming and very friendly and informative. The room was small but is was all we needed and the bathroom was modern and very clean. No aircon which was needed as we were there in the recent heatwave! We walked into St Ives for dinner so did not use the on site restaurant. Walking is very easy for us as we love our fitness but is a long hill back up to the hotel! We were fine and enjoyed the walk! Breakfast was very good, yes you are placed at a table and it is all help yourself but we are fine with that. There was a good choice of both hot and cold and lots of fresh fruit and yoghurts. We used the outdoor pool both days and it was clean and warm! We recommend this hotel but we did have stunning weather! The view is to die for too!
