Excellent location but poor maintenance

The hotel has two categories of rooms: standard and upgraded. There is a huge difference between them, such as: carpet floors vs. hardwood and ceramic tiles; fixed shower head in the bathroom vs. hand shower; worn out rooms vs. freshly painted and nicely decorated walls; etc. Most of the images on their website are taken of the upgraded rooms, so one may be deceived. The front desk staff is neither courteous nor helpful. Examples: we asked in our booking for a room with one double bed, but they gave us one with 2 twin beds. When we asked the reception, the manager said all the rooms are like that and it's nothing he can do - they cannot confirm you get a double bed or not; he was very abrupt, and never explained the difference or offered to upgrade us. However, it happened that we saw the maid cleaning an upgraded room (with king size bed, hardwood and ceramic floors, hand shower in the bathroom), so my husband went back to the reception and was lucky to find a different receptionist who graciously showed us an upgraded room for 20 EUR/night extra. Another negative thing about the front desk staff: they never told us you can get discounted parking in the Plaza de Ayuntamiento (15 EUR/night if you have your parking ticket stamped by the hotel) instead of paying 25 EUR/night in the front of the hotel. Also, they didn't give us good information on beaches, restaurants and other attractions, as they wouldn't know. Wi-fi didn't work almost at all.
