Great Hacienda location close to Cotopaxi Park

Posted Nov 30, 2016
Pros: Location is very convenient. Peaceful and quiet.
Cons: Better signs and instructions to find the hacienda while driving from Quito. The Expedia map is wrong and does not provide enough information.
Location: The two key attractions are the Cotopaxi National Park and the Lake Quilotoa Loop. There's also indigenous markets and Mama Negra parade in Latacunga.
Hato Verde is an hacienda located 15 min north of Latacunga, with easy access from the Panamerican Highway, which makes it a perfect location as base for exploring the Cotopaxi National Park and the Lake Quilotoa Loop. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, with nice views of the surrounding green fields, recently renovated. You can take advantage of the hacienda facilities, get fresh milk for breakfast and check the area horse riding. My recommendation is to rent a car in Latacunga so that you can have the freedom to explore the area for food and activities. If you don't want to drive in Ecuador and avoid getting lost, then Hato Verde has a tourist van to help you. There is no TV in the rooms but you have access to internet.

Nice hotel very overpriced dinner...unrealistic

Posted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: Great location
Cons: Get rid of musty smell some hot water would be nice and in a country where produce is cheap how about more realistic pricing
Location: Quilotoa loop and cotopaxi
No hot water sweet hosts but could not compensate for lack of hot water and overpriced dinner

Very nice family, great hospitality but prices are too high. No heating. For 1or 2 nights it is fine, but not longer.

Real home feel, elegant lodging, and volcanoes!

Posted Aug 11, 2013
Pros: Comfortable, friendly, professional. Food is great, beds are comfortable and it is well located.
Cons: Signs to find it.
Location: Visit national parks: Cotopaxi and Illinisas. Visit Quilotoa crater lake and stop at Pujili and Tigua for local art. Daytrips to Baños or Chimborazo
I brought my family from the States here for a few nights because it was so well located for getting to different places in the highlands and it looked nice in the pictures. What a treat! Maria, Cesar and the kids were all wonderful; we felt like part of the family. The hacienda is elegant and we really enjoyed sitting in the evenings near the fire places talking about everything from our trips to the challenges of running a farm in today's Ecuador. This is a working farm--we would meet Cesar at breakfast after he had finished two hours of morning milking. So, we not only got great advice on where to go and how to get there, we got to talk to them about being a farmer in Ecuador and life out of Quito and Cuenca. We also got fresh food from the farm--the food was well prepared and professionally served. All in all, a great place to stop to explore the Central highlands of Ecuador.

Best place/hotel to stay in the area...

Posted Mar 12, 2013
We were looking for a place to stay that was very comfortable and with great customer service but also was very authentic and local. There are very few choices in the Cotopaxi area and we decided to go here due to the reviews in Expedia. The place was just what we were looking for. It is one of the best places we have stayed at. The food was amazing and the owners were very helpful and were always making sure we were OK. The only drawback is that it is a little hard to find, but just call the owner and they will direct you.

Servicio Familiar y Personalizado

Estadía de una noche en la que los dueños y el personal nos brindaron la mejor atención. La cena y el desayuno contaban con los productos más frescos. Por lo general una experiencia 100% recomendable.
