Nice weekend getaway!

Posted Feb 5, 2018
Pros: Oceanfront setting.
Cons: The restaurant service.
Location: Close to the local ski hill, fabulous restaurant options in Courtney. Wineries, breweries and local produce are all close by A beautiful seaside town.
We just returned from a couples weekend getaway in early February. The resort setting was beautiful, and our room was great. The hydropath spa was incredible, and a nice indulgence (it is quite pricey though). Although the swimming pool and steam room were closed for renovations, we still made the most of the hot tub access. We look forward to returning next year!

Nice Hotel/Resort/Spa, oceanfront.

Overall we were pleased with the room, but kind of expected it to have a bath and not only a shower. Very professional and friendly staff.

Nice hotel with amazing restaurant

Posted Jan 16, 2018
Pros: The restaurant hands down
Cons: time to update the room.
I hosted a business dinner at the restaurant (food & service was amazing at the restuarnt) and I stayed at the hotel overnight. The steam room and pool were closed and I was not informed prior or at check-in. When I went to ask how much for a room with a bathtub, it was 100 dollars more and the hotel had a choice of rooms due to it being off season. As the pool was closed for one week....as a gesture of goodwill, I would have thought they would have just given an upgrade with a bathtub to clients if the room was empty. In the end, the hydropath for $80 per person at the spa was our solution which was great. This hotel room was slightly disappointing (tired) but the restaurant and spa were amazing!

Dear Jeremy, Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your business dinner and the restaurant met your expectations. Please know that we are starting to renovate our guest rooms very soon. We do advise our guests about the pool closure and spa renovations but sometimes that information gets pushed to the bottom of the page on 3rd party booking sites. We hope to be able to welcome you back again soon to an updated room. Best Regards, The Kingfisher Resort Management Team

Tired old place in stunning location

Posted Jan 8, 2018
Pros: The view from the room, the restaurant.
Cons: The tiredness of the rooms. Get rid of the resort fee for “free wifi and parking.” Resort things are the pool closed for maintenance and tiny gym.
We have stayed here many times over the years. It would be nice if the check in staff had a data base to refer to so they would know that. My husband commented that it really hadn’t changed much in 15 years with the same furniture and pictures on the walls. When plugging something in behind the dresser we noticed that the back was hanging off. The fridge in this room is now housed in a new, quite ugly panelling right outside the bathroom door. It was my fault I banged into it coming out of the bathroom in the middle of the night and bruised my forehead. I don’t know why the fridge was moved from under the counter. We had constant problems with our key card to get into the room. One night we had tried for several minutes and it still didn’t work. I was left standing in the freezing cold while my husband went to get another card. The hotel did compensate us with a complimentary breakfast the next day. The service in the restaurant was excellent and the menu is good. The view from the restaurant, like the view from the room was amazing. When we went to check out there was an additional charge on the bill for resort fees. We knew the swimming pool was closed for maintenance as the hotel had notified us. That was the only resort thing there might be. Everything you would use in the spa costs money. When I questioned the charge it was towards “free wifi” and “free parking.” I pointed out that these were free so why was I charged. This was going to be reviewed by the manager.

Dear Dean, Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed our newly renovated restaurant venues featuring excellent food and spectacular views. Currently we are renovating the pool and steam cave area and parts of our spa which will look spectacular. Our door locks will be exchanged for brand new high tech locks in February. We are starting to completely renovating our guest rooms this spring. Yes, always lots going on this time of the year hence the reduced rates. The Resort Fee is a very common "tax" in all of BC but we gladly took it off your bill. Please feel free to contact us directly for your next reservation. Bookings through 3rd parties don't supply much information for our data base and we would love to greet you with a "Welcome back"! Best Regards, The Kingfisher Resort Management Team

Beautiful view! Staff were incredible! My only complaint really was the beds were not that comfortable I had a hard time staying asleep because of it. The restaurant was lovely.

Dear Tobi, Thank you for your review. It was our pleasure to host you and we are happy you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear that you didn't have a good sleep. We got new mattresses for the entire resort last summer but it seems the firmness is not to your body's liking. There are extra toppers on site which we gladly put on your bed for your next stay. We are looking forward to welcome you back again soon. Best Regards, The Kingfisher Resort & Spa Management Team

Special local spa getaway

Posted Dec 4, 2017
At this time of year we need to warm up. This was our fifth visit to the resort to enjoy the Pacific Mist Hydropath but it was also a weekend. For the first time the guests ahead and behind us did not respect the multiple signs requesting quiet. Jeez it’s a spa treatment NOT a water park - talk about destroying our zen. Other than the worn out bathrobes found in our room, it was just the trick to warm us up. We returned to our room to enjoy our own bottle of wine prior to leaving for our dinner reservation. The restaurant has had an impressive makeover in the spring. Fair warning that the meal and wine prices have also had a not so impressive increase. But the place was packed. As we found the food was amazing. We had salmon and sablefish dinners as well as the special dessert- wait for it - doughnuts and popcorn. The next morning was cold and sunny and snow capped mountains on the horizon. After amazing pancakes and frittata for breakfast, we headed for the steam room. Oh no it’s lukewarm and we were joined by a beer drinking guest who also ignored signs - and you have to feel for someone who starts with a beer in a steam room at 10 am. Apparently maintenance was to fix the steam room but we needed to get on the road. We will return again but likely will try to avoid a weekend and the guests who can’t or don’t read.

Dear Wendy, Thank you for much for your feedback. We are thrilled to be your special local spa get away to keep you warm! How unfortunate that some guests disregard our rules and disturb others by their inconsiderate behavior. We hope to welcome you back to the Kingfisher again soon to enjoy the zen like experience you are used to. Best Regards, The Kingfisher Resort Management Team

Great getaway on the beach!

Posted Dec 1, 2017
Cons: Hot tub jets
Stayed one night and paid $24 to upgrade to a renovated beach front King bed room #415, and it was wonderful! Comfortable bed, kettle, coffee maker, mini-fridge and small stovetop is perfect for a couple night's stay. We had dinner at the more casual dining outlet (the dessert feature that night was mini-donuts with cinnamon sugar and glaze with some popcorn-delish!). Tried out the pool and hot tub (the jets need to be fixed), and breakfast in the morning we were sat in the fine dining restaurant which was lovely. Saw eagles on the beach as well. Great location and stay. Definitely pay for the upgraded rooms!
