The room had mold on wall and insects everywhere but after complaining we received a room a bit cleaner. We found our door wide open one day im assuming the staff left it open after cleaning. Thankfully nothing was stolen. The food was good at the restaurants I wouldn't recommend the buffet. Beach is nice but the pool lining is terrible. And be aware the resort is PACKED with locals on the weekend we had to leave the resort to enjoy ourselves. Overall I would not stay again.

Looks nice but some issues

To start our trip we arrived at the resort where our bags were taken and had a tag put on them (I imagine so they can take them to your room). Then we go inside where we see a huge line of people waiting. No one knows where you check in or check out and was a mass confusion. After about 30-45 minutes we were finally checked in. We go back out front to tell the bell boy what our room number was and he just tells us to take our bags. Alright I guess that's fine, but why did you take them in the first place? The resort is nice, but from Friday-Sunday it is packed full of children who go in all three of the pools and we're even taking up all the spaces at the swim up bar. Extremely annoying. the buffet food was just ok. Not good not bad. You have to wait in more lines to be seated just so you can serve yourself. They don't even bring you drinks, so I'm not sure why you have to be told where to sit. It also seemed like no matter which bar you went to, you had to wait in long lines because they only had one bartender working, which was very annoying as well. The beach is nice but no it's not the hamptons. The restaurants that you need reservations for had very good food but we even had a problem there. 3 of the 4 of us have had stomach issues after eating at one and none of us drank the water. I'm normally don't write reviews but I feel like I'd like to warn others before they commit to this place. You get what you pay for!

The resort is beautiful and staff is accommodating

I would however not go back due to the food being terrible. The only way I could describe it would be slop.

25th Anniversary Trip

Pros: The beach and the excursion access right from the resort were very nice. We didn't have to leave the resort if we didn't want to.
Cons: The towels in the rooms are very hard and rough. Lights by the beach were broken and we saw a woman trip and fall hard on the cement steps going up.
Location: The location was perfect. We were far enough away from the cruise ship port that we didn't get bombarded with cruisers.
This was our first trip as a couple to sunny Mexico, and we went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The resort was beautiful and had a lot to offer and plenty to do to keep you busy. We loved the private beach access, the pools, and the overall tropical atmosphere of the entire resort. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would suggest a few changes to make our experience a little better such as softer towels in the rooms to dry off with after you are sunburned, and "couples only" lodging areas so you don't have to listen to loud kids in the room adjacent to yours. In addition, there are a few things that first timers to all-inclusive resorts need to know, but the staff at the resort and Expedia do not tell you...When you get a "resort credit" (we got a $500 one and when we called Expedia prior to booking to ask what it included, the answer we were given was completely wrong), it really isn't a credit at all. Rather, it is a discount program you can use toward the resorts "extras" - We didn't use any of it. Also, if you don't ask for a "towel card" to prove you turned in your beach towels, you will be charged a fee for each towel after you check out. Lastly, when your all-inclusive says it includes non-motorized water activities such as snorkeling equipment and kayaks, it really means you only get an hour of use for free. I know I have many complaints, but all-in-all it was a great vacation and we would definitely go to this resort again.

Very nice hotel

We stayed during the springbreak with our daughters. We liked everything of it, the food, the drinks, the service, pools and especially the beach because you can do snorkeling all day, the water was warm and very clear with lots of fishes. We had fun a lot.

Very organic hotel, starting to show its age

Pros: I really like the layout of the hotel. There is plenty to do, it is right on the beach with boat, kayak and snorkeling gear. Staff is very friendly.
Cons: Maintenance. Housekeeping. All day use of pool tables. Designated non-smoking areas (I know it's a cultural thing)
Location: It is situated between wildlife preserves so there are a lot of iguanas and coatis around. There is nothing else to do that is within walking distance
We chose this hotel as a family reunion location. There were a variety of things for everybody to do and overall we had a nice time. We had some issues at check-in as we needed two rooms for our family with three young children and requested connected rooms 6 months in advance. They gave us rooms in two different buildings instead. The upstairs rooms have a natural material ceiling which lets in all of the noise, and small pieces of debris and insects sprinkle from the ceiling all day and all night. I expected some insects but my daughter couldn't sleep with the number of things crawling through her bed. The original set of sheets my bed was made with were blood stained - which is unsettling. The kids pool had a lot of nice features, unfortunately many of them didn't work and some were rusted and broken. The main restaurant had a nice variety of food for breakfast and dinners. We also had very pleasant experiences at the Oriental and Italian restaurants. The pool, fussball and air hockey tables were in very high demand. They are only available after 5 pm which made it difficult for many families to have a turn. There was a nice covered playground and a great little shop on site. Their prices were about 40% than those of street vendors and people walking the beach. If you don't like to haggle, it's a great place to go. We made use of the tennis courts several times and found them to be in very good condition. The restaurant and poolside servers were amazing.

Extremely nice staff. Very professional. Quiet area. Rooms are clean. Dining room was clean, food was good. We enjoyed our stay there very much. We look forward to coming back for a diving trip again!!
