Beautiful hotel with a personal touch

Posted Jun 25, 2016
We had an excellent experience at Casita de Maya, with a warm, welcoming, knowledgeable staff, excellent accommodations, tasteful interior decorating, and an impressive attention to detail. We felt the staff was very interested in making sure that we had a pleasant stay. We highly recommend staying here!!

Nice place near airport.

Posted Feb 17, 2016
Pros: general feel, clean.
Cons: too bad it is not closer to water, restaurants, shopping.
Location: able to walk to airport
Stayed at hotel one night waiting to get into resort. Walking distance to airport with luggage. Very pleasant staff. Peaceful and quiet. Only downside for us was distance from downtown area as one of us has a bad knee and it is a moderate walk. Took a cab both ways so that was about $6 each way. Cook took our orders and hopped on his motorcycle and went to his house a block away to cook the food which was good. It was a nice change of pace from a big hotel....like visiting friends.

Great stay

Posted Jan 25, 2016 on Hotels
We really liked everything about it, with the only minor exception that you could sometimes hear a dog barking at night. The hotel is a mile away from the major tourist area that gets swarmed with cruise ship visitors, located instead in the middle of a local neighborhood, which we vastly preferred. The owner (Dan) was wonderful, setting us up with activities and making the experience a great one. We would definitely return and strongly recommend. About the room: it was the nicest we had during our entire trip through the Yucatan, and also just about the cheapest. (Cheaper than our mediocre Playa Del Carmen hotel by more than half.)

Mexican hospitality

Posted Dec 20, 2015
Gorgeous little place that has everything you need plus a real sense of being in Mexico. This is all due to the hospitality, attentiveness & good cheer of Daniel. We spent 3 relaxed days here under the guidance of Daniel who was always spot on with his advice. The only disadvantage is the location which is a bit out of Centro & requires taxis to get around, but that was not an inconvenience & was easily managed.

A Cozumel Gem

Posted Dec 4, 2015 on Hotels
Casita de Maya is a little gem, right across from the airport. We walked there easily. Our king size room was very comfortable, except air conditioning would have been a nice plus because we are not used to the humidity. There is an 'air conditioning fan' and that really helps. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Great mattress and pillows; very comfy. I would recommend this to anyone spending time in Cozumel, unless you want to be on the beach. Taxi to town is very affordable.

Clean, cozy and friendly in Cozumel

Posted Dec 1, 2015
Dan (owner) was welcoming, and made me feel like a real guest...not a customer. Daniel, his right hand man and cook, was also generously friendly and made some tasty food at any time of day. I did the Ironman triathlon, so needed to wake up super early for the race, and they got up very early as well to make sure I got a taxi and had everything organized. Daniel made me pasta (off the menu) exactly how I wanted it and it helped me to feel better about the next day. I wish I could come back here and spend more time relaxing in the pool, and just sitting around casually...but my race made that impossible. But, the Casita de Maya team did everything they could to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. It was obvious to me they enjoy what they do, and genuinely like meeting their hotel guests and helping them enjoy themselves. Christian

Great find in Cozumel

Posted Nov 9, 2015 on Hotels
This is a very small hotel (just 5 rooms). It's not next to a beach or in the 'shopping' district. You are just a minute from the airport (walking!!) The owner and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The place is spotless, you are far from the touristy part of the Island and it makes a fabulous base for a vacation in Cozumel. There are some excellent places to eat close by.

High End Hotel Feel, Budget Prices!

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Because of the small number of rooms available, the customer experience is second to none. However, the prices are VERY AFFORDABLE!
Cons: The only downside, if there would be one, is that it's not by downtown, it's by the airport. So, if you want to go anywhere, you have to take a cab.
Location: It's on Cozumel island. So, swimming, diving, snorkeling, etc. are some of the best in the world. The food is also cheap and VERY GOOD!
I travel a lot for work, so I've been to my fair share of hotels. However, this one was honestly the best one I've ever stayed in! Because there are only 5 rooms, the staff give you specialized help in finding food, calling you cabs, and getting you anything you might need on your vacation. One of the cooler aspects of the hotel is that, because it's so small, it gives you the opportunity to make friends with everyone who is staying there. On any given night, people just hang out outside on the patio area and talk. It's truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Additionally, the hotel owner is on site most of the time. So, if you have any issues, you can bring them right up to him. He's actually from the United States, so English is his native language. A lot of times going to a foreign county can be hard if you can't speak the language. That's not an issue here.
