Overbooked & flooded with cruise ship people!

Posted Jul 28, 2017
We had two rooms reserved and when we arrived were told that only one room was available. They made up a story that the other room had a broken air conditioner. Right. After arguing with them for 30 minutes and having to ask for the manager he agreed to pay for two rooms at a neighbor hotel for the night. The other room never did come available so after 4 hours on the phone with Expedia(mostly on hold for a supervisor,) they secured a room at the neighbor hotel which was much nicer than El Cid so one of our party stayed there the entire week and the other at El Cid. The front desk staff is very unhelpful and if you are on the European Plan you are treated like 2nd class citizen. They see the brown wrist band when you ask for something. They do not even provide coffee packet for the in room coffee maker after the 1st day. It cost $1.50. Really stinks! The wait staff at the bar, restaurant and the beach were very friendly and helpful. My other complaint about this hotel is that the beach is directly in front of where the huge cruise ships dock every day so your view of the beautiful ocean is partially obstructed. In addition El Cid La Ceiba has a deal with the cruise ship companies that all of the cruise ship customers have access to the hotel pool and beach while the ship is in port. As a result our beach and pool was overrun by boat people every day with little or no regard for proper beach etiquette. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Park Royal.

On the water and best snorkeling

Posted Jul 21, 2017
Pros: On the beach and entertainment
Cons: I have been at many hotels in Cozumel and LaCeiba is the optimum place and location
Location: You are just a few feet away from great snorkeling and or a beach dive. And, if you are inclined to try diving, Juan Carlos can arrange a resort dive
Esther was great handling a room move next to the dive shop (on-site). Juan Carlos great at dive help at Babieca. Andre great at entertainment nightly at the pool. The best place to get snorkeling gear or dive gear with lockers and you are 10 feet away jumping into tourquoise waters. Ceronto (head waiter) always checks on food and service. Poncho

Location is great, walking distance to shopping

Posted Jul 12, 2017
Customer service needs improvement, food needs lots of improvement, my five days stayed, I spoke with 3 families that weren't happy about the hotel, The management spoke with us and ask about the issues, also they upgraded us to elite customers and we were able to get everything we want, even with that Im not sure if I will stay there again.

Very Nice Hotel with all necessary facilities,

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: Clean, friendly good location
Cons: More plugs sockets in the rooms
Location: We hired a car and travelled round the Island visiting smaller less commercial beaches. Beach clubs were good, boat trips were excellent, parasailing
Lovely holiday, friendly staff but not a very good journey experience with Expedia as flight was cancelled and we had to make alternative travel arrangements

Disappointed in room.

Posted May 20, 2017
Had to get room changed. Went from kitchenette room down to a room with fridge only but at least bed was a little more comfortable. First night in a Murphy bed. Stomped toes few times on the fold out bars. Had bed. Backache next day Stovetop would beep geld together with duct tape. Remodeling and banging going on around my room everyday. Could not relax in room during the day.

Loved to watching the curse ships come and go.

Posted May 12, 2017
Love watching the cruise ships come in and out. Biggest complaint we had was at 4 a.m. when the scuba shop unloaded there oxygen tanks right in front of our room and was banging them on the concrete 24 of them two mornings in a row sounded like someone was dropping something right and arm each morning I was up and could not go back to sleep. Curtains did not shut all the way so the light came in as soon as the sun came up. Nice resort good drinks good continental breakfast and fun snorkeling outside the hotel. Would go there again.

Great Location in Cozumel

Posted May 9, 2017
Cons: Pool area isn't large, but plenty of lounges on the sand. Some competition for the shady areas under umbrellas. Close to a cruise port, but no prob.
Location: A short cab ride to the downtown area. Otherwise a few bars and restaurants walking distance from hotel for those choosing to "leave campus".
A very clean, friendly and comfortable hotel in Cozumel. Feed and service were both above average and the cost VERY reasonable. While not on a beach per se, it was easy to swim after descending a set of stairs into the blue waters.

Nice and clean hotel and friendly staff.

Posted Apr 23, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: All the staff was very friendly.
Cons: The plumbing maintenance.
Even I was under the understanding that I booked a ALL INCLUSIVE trip, and I confirmed it with ORBITZ twice, the ALL INCLUSIVE was not booked, I had to pay the ALL INCÑLUSIVE at the time I arrived.

Excellent handicap accessibility

Posted Apr 22, 2017
Pros: Staff makes you feel like family. Great location.
Cons: More notification of night activities and special themed dinners.
Location: Great location, only a cab ride away from everything. Shopping State park, beaches with lots of water activities
Extremely comfortable, very friendly staff. Plenty to do yet very restful. Very accessible for my handicapped husband. No problems getting to pool, dining room, etc. made our vacation so easy. We loved the La Chopa. Chef makes the world's best omelets!
